Ask Jasmine: Is my friend unlucky or just drunk?

Dear Jasmine,

I have a friend. Let's call her "Cara Mead". Cara's pretty bummed -- she got fired from her last job as a very important travel journalist, she always falls down at the most random times (usually when we're on our way home from a night out), and she hasn't had a decent date since her boyfriend moved to the West Coast to further his own career in television. What can I do to help me her rise above in time to start 2006 off on the right foot?

Kisses,
TR

Dear TR,

Your friend "Cara" sounds pretty desperate, but not totally unsalvageable. Getting fired is not the worst thing that can happen to a person, and I'm sure that with her experience, Cara can find work as a journalist, or maybe in the entertainment industry. As long as the phrase "entertainment industry" can be expanded to include such activities as "calling lottery numbers on television".

As for the falling down, if it's true that there really is no explanation for it, think harder. Has your friend made any recent changes to her appearance? Maybe her center of gravity is much higher than it used to be? Any changes in behavior -- does she slur her words? Smell like vodka? If the issue persists, then she'll have to adjust. If she stumbles, she may stumble into the arms of her next boyfriend? You may even have to shove her a few times to make sure she falls just right.

Tell you friend to keep her spirits bright, her glass full, and her tits up. Best of luck to you and Cara.

Best,
Jasmine
