Degrassi: Spinner and Jimmy's Boring Business Venture.

Darcy apologizes to Spinner. In class, they get their career aptitude tests back and Spinner's test results explicitly say that he's meant to be a clown professionally. What kind of test are they giving these Degrassi kids? Ashley and Jimmy are both destined to be lawyers. They make some silly joke about opening their own law firm. Jimmy figures that he should be practical and give up on his dreams of art school.

Outside, Alex is trying to do work and these two girls at a neighboring table are being super annoying. One of them throws something at Alex. Alex gets in the one girls face then has a change of heart and opts to not kick her ass. All in all, an incredibly pointless exchange.

At Marco and Ellie's apartment they start throwing around the idea of selling t-shirts that Jimmy has printed his art on. The t-shirts aren't anything too special really, just simple colored t-shirts with a strange black logo on it. Wearable art from Jimmy Brooks.

In school the next day, Spinner approaches Jimmy with a list of potential business names for their t-shirt company. Jimmy dismisses the idea, telling him it's just not worth it. Approximately three seconds after, he caves in ultimately decides to go for it. Turns out Alex is back at Degrassi in order to get her grades up. How noble. Ms. H tells her that her grades are improving but she has a lack of extra curricular activities. She suggests that she goes out for lacrosse but Alex doesn't think she's team sport type.

All is going well with the new t-shirt biz and they are selling a lot around the university. They see a retail store for rent and they decide that Jimmy could take a little money from his academic fund to help pay the rent. Spin assures him that it's feasible because he has saved money from working at The Dot. Interactive poll time! This week's question “Do you think Alex has changed", vote cast for “No way". All so silly.

At Ellie and Marco's, Jimmy's dad comes to pick him up. Spin decides that it's a good time for him to Dad about the academic fund money. His dad dismisses his idea and tells him not to chase such questionable dreams. In lieu of his dad's ruling, Jimmy remembers that he doesn't actually need his dad's permission to access the fund.

They rent out the shop and actually have a lot of business, which is just odd because the t-shirts pretty much suck. A random sketchy guy asks if them if they take debit cards. They tell him cash only. He looks at the large wad of Canadian money in the cash box suspiciously and walks away.

Alex decided to take Ms. H, on with the idea of lacrosse and she's now on the team. Turns out the annoying girl who was outside is on the team too. The new bitchy girl doesn't seem too happy that Alex is the newest member.

Back at Ellie and Marcos, Jimmy and Spinner are counting their profits over pizza. They collectively decide that they know nothing about money and taxes, so they should hire a bookkeeper. At Degrassi, Alex and bitchy girl win their game. How exciting.

Jimmy is starting to reconsider the t-shirt biz and maybe it isn't really worth all their trouble. He thinks his dad is right. Jimmy wants out and he suggests that they sell everything and end it. Spinner gets pissed off and leaves him. Wow, the bitchy girl's name is Serena. Alex approaches her after the game. She tells her that they should try and get along. Serena thinks that Alex is a hateful bitch and has no interest in pretending to like her.

Sketchy guy comes back into the store but this time he's here for the money and not the stylish t-shirts. He makes a beeline for the cash box. Spin sees that Jimmy's in trouble from the window. He runs in, tackles the sketchy guy, and saves the day!

Outside Degrassi, Alex tells Serena that she got a week worth of detention for her earlier attempt at kicking her ass. Alex has apparently been making Serena's life hell for years and she wants nothing to do with her, big shocker. What is the point of all this really? Nobody cares.

Cops show up at Jimmy and Spinner's store to report about their near brush with robbery. Jimmy is concerned that his father is going to be angry with him for taking the money. Soon, he is going to have to face his dad, uh oh. Next week, Sean gets out of prison, gets back together with Emma, but finds out about her shady past with Jay.

Show is not family healthy anymore

My kids and I have watched the various Degrassi series over the years. But No More!! I now forbid my children from watching the most recent "Next Generation" episodes because of very disgusting content. It's like the writers and producers are trying so hard to portray gay and immoral behavior as ok, mainsteam and even cool.
Is it some personal adgenda of the writers and producers to do this? I'm
certainly NOT homophobic or anything and one or two episodes is ok, but way too much of the content is seeming to be focused on gay and immoral behavior and a line has been crossed. So no more Degrassi in our household. Oh and by the way, even my teen daughter says the show has become "lame" and boring with the excess focus on the small minority of teen issues of gayness, date rape, substance abuse and immoral behaviour which the exception rather than the majoruty of what teens are like these days. She says she knows most of her peers are good kids and the ones in Degrassi just tries to glamourize the "badass screwups" for the sake of ratings and hollywood appeal. Smart kid. I agree that Degrassi used to be a great show with nice messages for youth, but now has sold out by using controversy for the sake of controversy simply for the sake of ratings and appeal to the mass market.
Do any other parents agree with me?
that this show sold its soul for ratings and popularity and drifted so far from its roots thats its a dirty shame.

It doesn't matter if it was

It doesn't matter if it was in the class the test or not. You can try Trianz to help you understand how business work and what you could become. Maybe it won't be that boring. There are companies that can help you, instead of common psychological tests.
