Dirt - Episode 13 - Ita Missa Est

Don's recap is pretty much him freaking out. He's wrestling with all of the voices telling him to kill Lucy. He keeps hearing the phrase "Ita Missa Est," which translates to "mass is over." Lucy's been desperately trying to get in touch with him. She's leaving another voicemail when she walks into her bedroom and finds a copy of DirtNow with a picture of her covering Julia's face with the tagline "Exposed." She hits the panic alarm. Next day she's at a fashion show talking with the designer who tells her that she heard Tina Harrod (Jennifer Aniston)  is taking over for Lucy. Before Lucy can retort a model suffers a nosebleed and passes out. While everyone else is calling an ambulance, Lucy calls the magazine to tell them the new cover and to find out the backstory. Turns out the model didn't just pass out, she died. Willa tells Lucy that they found weight loss products in the model's blood and Lucy makes her feel like she's about three years old.

We see Don in the desert and all of these scenes are very reminiscent of Natural Born Killers. The choppy editing, the location, the grainy film, he even buys a knife from an American Indian who just happens to be hanging out in front of the motel. After he purchases the knife, he gets back in his car and Holt is in the passenger seat. Of course it's not Holt, but Don's schizophrenia manefesting itself. Holt tells Don that he is the chosen one. He must kill Lucy, it's His (he points up) will.

Lucy finds out that Holt is giving an exclusive to Vanity Fair. Meanwhile Julia is begging Holt to stay as he is packing his things. He screams at her for lying and using the tape as a career booster. He tells her to stay the hell away from him and if she needs emotional help maybe she should call Johnny Gage, her sex tape co-star. Willa is grilling Brent about where she stands with Lucy. He wants to know where he stands with her. They agree to exchange information and Brent tells Willa that Lucy's numbers are down and Tina Harrod is in town so she has bigger issues to worry about than Willa. Willa tells Brent that he's too old for her and he needs to grow up and find a woman his own age. Willa makes a phone call and informs the other party that there is an employee run "I Hate Lucy" blog and even gives the password.

Don shows up at Lucy's and slits her throat. He's screaming and holding her while she bleeds to death in his arms. It's all a hallucination. He's in the desert with all of the people in his life, including Holt and his imaginary, dead ex-girlfriend that delivered a litter of kittens. They are all telling him he must kill Lucy. He says he can't and walks away from her and she tells him he's going to die out there if he doesn't go back and kill Lucy and he replies that he knows and heads towards his car.

Willa shows Lucy the blog and tells her that she has no idea who started it. Lucy barges into Brent's office to find Tina Harrod sitting with Brent. Tina greets Lucy pleasantly, but Lucy says to cut the bullshit. Is she here for her job? Brent and Tina tell Lucy to relax that they are old buddies and are just catching up on old times. Tina and Lucy go toe to toe and it is reavealed that they worked together at the Times. Brent is totally perving watching the two of them go at it verbally. His creepy facial hair is back too. Tina and Lucy walk around the office and it is clear that Tina knows Lucy's people better than she does. Tina's very nice and remembers everyone's names and such. Tina leaves as Lucy's security guard shows up to tell her they've found Don's car, but no Don. She says to get the helicopter after him, screw the stalker and find Don! Lucy is crying to her brother, Leo, about the fact that she may never see Don alive again and she never told him how much he meant to her. Don's still freaking out in the desert and an alternative Scottish version of himself shows up and tells him he has to kill himself if he wants the voices to stop and if he doesn't want to kill Lucy. As Don goes to slit his throat, the rescue helicopter lands. Lucy's guard calls her and lets her know Don is fine, he's dehydrated, but he'll be okay and he is in the hospital. Lucy rushes to see him in the hospital and he's so glad that he didn't kill her. He wants to start taking monthly injections so he never goes off of his meds again and he wants Lucy to be the power of attorney for his medical issues because she's the only one he trusts. She promises to take care of him and tells him to get some rest.

She gets another call from Tina who tells her that she wants to clear the air and catch up. They agree to lunch at Lucy's office and Tina is showing Lucy baby pictures and playing nice. Fed up, Lucy tells her to drop it and they start talking real. Tina asks about Lucy's lovelife and it is reavealed they had a one-time thing according to Lucy. Four times, according to Tina, but who's counting. Tina again reassures Lucy that she's not there for her job and they kiss goodbye. Brent sees it, so we get to see it through his pervy perspective and it's a really cute scene. All of that press over THAT!

Holt jumps in Lucy's car and she's pissed he gave his cover to Vanity Fair. He thinks she called him because she wants him. They play their cat and mouse game and make out. Just as Holt is telling Lucy that he thinks he's fallen in love with her, she spots the paparazzi. She hauls ass and loses them, dumping Holt in an alley. Her phone rings and it's her guard telling her to return home immediately they have caught the stalker. She rushes home to find Leo, her brother, in cuffs. He tells her after the Jack Dawson incident he wanted to give her a taste of her own medicine, but he took it a little too far. He says he did it all for her. She tells them not to arrest him, but for him to get the hell out of her life.

Willia is questioning the designer from the beginning of the show. Willa did some digging and found out the designer is also the dealer that supplied the dead model the drugs that killed her. Willa tells the designer she's not telling Lucy, but it's going in Willa's vault and from now on any model stories go to Willa. She calls Lucy and tells her she found out who the supplier was and Lucy gives her the story. Lucy calls Tina to congratulate her on her new job at another magazine and to give her props on using DirtNow as leverage. They say their goodbyes and it pans out to Julia Mallory in Tina's office. She's doing damage control because she went back on the Oprah type show and admitted that while she leaked the tape, it was still rape. The host and crowd hated her and ripped her a new one. Tina is consoling Julia and telling her it was just awful how bad Lucy treated her considering Holt was her source. Julia, clearly confused, tells her that there is no way Holt would ever do that. Tina shows her pictures of Lucy and Holt together. There is a quick montage of all of the characters, Holt attends a premiere with a new girl on his arm, yet you can tell he's thinking about Lucy. Brent takes a tape out of his desk drawer and labels it "Lucy" and stares at the rest of his sex video collection. Lucy is leaving Leo a message that his shit will be in the driveway and throws it out when she walks back into her house to find a pretty messed up Julia Mallory standing there. Julia tells Lucy she ruined her life. The screen flashes stills of an apparent knife fight between Julia and Lucy. Lucy staggers out of her house, bleeding, and calls Don at the hospital. She tells him to get there ASAP, but not to call 911 until he has the shots. Don takes the pictures and holds her telling her that help is on the way and he starts screaming that he didn't do this.

What a way to end a season! I kind of figured Leo was the stalker. That Prince Tyree story never really went anywhere. Jennifer Aniston was amazing, in my opinion. I REALLY hope this show gets picked up for another season. Who won the car?
