Oh, thank God, The Office is back! And with a “supersized" episode! Is it me, or does Karen seem to be a bad match for Jim? They simply don't have much in common (but they're both so cute together...) Roy busts into the office and tries to take a swing at Jim, but is thwarted (along with poor Pam) by a burst of pepper spray (courtesy of – who else? – Dwight - who also gets a snootful of the toxic liquid.)
Jan is on the phone with Michael and Toby. Roy has been fired, and Jim's not pressing any charges. Darryl has decided to use this opportunity to ask for a raise. Pam doesn't want to talk about the Roy vs. Jim confrontation. Jim said Roy should be thankful that he was merely hit with pepper spray, as Dwight's office arsenal also included nunchuks and throwing stars. Jim thanked Dwight for his help but he refused any thanks or gifts. Dwight feels he's not a hero. The real heroes are crime fighters á la Batman and Superman. Angela wants a blow-by-blow of the altercation and gets one from Oscar. She was visibly excited to hear about Dwight's heroism. Michael is running through some role-playing scenarios of his meeting with Darryl (portrayed by Jim) aided by Wikipedia, which Michael believes is a trusted source.
Dwight is giving his deposition to Toby. Toby is now stationed next to Ryan and Kelly and feels that Michael didn't move him there for a reason (but if he did...brilliant.) Michael meets with Darryl to discuss his raise. Michael suggests a change of venue which he feels will throw him off the case. He also doesn't speak first (another helpful Wikipedia tip.) Darryl accuses Michael of wearing “lady pants". In fact, he is wearing a ladies suit (Michael found it in a sale bin and it simply fit. He defended himself by saying “at least it's bisexual.") He can't be the big boss with a suit with the “Miss Sterious" label. He's lost control of the negotiations, especially after Darryl takes a photo on his cell phone and forwards it to his colleagues.
Kevin asked Karen how she felt about the attack on Jim. Angela again asks for a recap. Michael has resumed contract negotiations with Darryl. He is actually justified in asking for a raise, 100% (due to the merger, taking on Roy's work, etc.) Pam apologizes to Jim and tells him she and Roy are completely over. Michael insists Darryl write his desired salary on a piece of paper. He asks for a 10% raise, and Michael says that's more then he makes - and has the pay stub to prove it. Darryl calls his cronies to share (as he did with the suit.) Jim is still trying to reward Dwight, but he's not having anything to do with it. Jim can't figure out Dwight's motives, but Karen suggests Jim may be guilty about all of the pranks he's pulled on Dwight. Kevin gives Michael some money he owed him because the word got around about his paltry paycheck. Stanley still thinks he's way overpaid. Darryl suggests Michael should ask for a raise himself. Angela asks Creed for his version of the Dwight story but is unsatisfied with the results. Michael arranges a 5 o'clock meeting with Jan. She tells him that due to the nature of their relationship, they need to have a third party present. Michael wants to bring Darryl but they need an HR rep, and Toby is the man who fits the bill.
Toby opts for a visit to corporate over listening to Ryan and Kelly, so Michael, Toby and Darryl head off to NYC. Angela is again asking for a recap – from Kelly – who tells her that Toby has a full report with everyone's testimony, so she goes in search of it. Roy comes back to apologize to Jim – and pick up his last paycheck. He asks Pam out for coffee. Michael comes into Jan's office to discuss the raise. She has a new, young assistant, which makes Michael jealous. Jan instructs Michael to leave their personal life out of the contract negotiations. He, being Michael, can't leave it alone. She offers him a 6% raise, which Michael doesn't feel justifies all of the gifts he's bought her during their relationship. Toby starts taking notes, as this is sure to be an unprecedented case in the world of HR. Roy and Pam meet to talk and they both apologize for their bad choices,. But they're over. She says she's not going to pursue Jim because he has a girlfriend (but she just doesn't sound too convincing). Michael's contract negotiations aren't going well – he's had a bad day. Jan offers him a 12% but he has to ask for 15% for some undisclosed reason (anyone out there know why?) Michael's an ass, but he does get his raise. Angela is totally turned on by the report on Dwight's heroism and attacks him in her cube. Jim walks in on them and now he feels they're finally even (he says he'll keep this office romance a secret.)
Hey...Andy's back from anger management! He's anxious to get a second chance and is greeted upon his return with a pepper spray shot from Dwight. So glad everybody's back!
