Gilmore Girls - It's Just Like Riding A Bike

The Gilmore Girls were back with yet another great episode last night. Less than a month left till the finale. It better come back for an 8th season! Word on the street is that it will be back, but with a shortened season - only 13 episodes vs 22. The final word on whether the Girls will return will come in just a couple weeks.

Last week on GG the town was in a frenzy over the annual Spring Fling. The event turned into just a hay bale maze but a fun one nonetheless. Rory got a job offer from a newspaper, but decided to turn it down in hopes of landing a spot in the Fellowship program with the New York Times. Luke and Lorelai have a short but sweet chat in the hay bale maze and things seem to be getting better between them.

After almost a year of avoiding Luke's diner, Lorelai finally takes the plunge and stops in for a cup of coffee. Kirk welcomes her with a rant about how he isn't about to give up the best seat in the house. After some awkward chit-chat with Luke she decides to take the coffee to go. It is obvious these two have some things to work out before they can feel comfortable around each other again.

On Lorelai's way to work she gets a call from Sookie that she won't be able to make it to work today because the kids have chicken pox. She then mentions that Jackson has to stay at a hotel since he hasn't ever had the chicken pox. Lorelai insists that they not waste the money on a hotel, Jackson can stay with her. After some back and forth Sookie agrees. Lorelai's jeep then decides to take a shit and die completely. The morning is also full of excitement for Paris and Doyle who have anxiously been awaiting Rory's arrival home. The minute she walks in the door they practically jump on her. Paris received six letters from potential med and law schools that she applied to and has been waiting for Rory to get home to open them for her. Rory opens the letters with Paris's lucky letter opener which actually looks to bring luck as Paris is accepted into all the colleges; Harvard, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, etc. - Paris goes crazy after each letter of acceptance. After finding out she was accepted to all of them she begins to freak out over where she should go. So many options! Poor Paris!!

Night has come and Jackson has come to stay with Lorelai. As Sookie is dropping him off she reminds barks orders for him to be on his best behavior. He quickly rushes her out the door and I see why. She is definitely on edge lately, which is reasonable considering she is pregnant with her third child... all of which seem to be close in age. FYI: Did you know Melissa McCarthy (Sookie) is pregnant in real life? That explains Sookie's unexpected pregnancy. After Sookie leaves Jackson and Lorelai sit down and talk about her jeep which was pronounced dead on arrival. She has to buy a new car.

The next morning Lorelai calls Rory on her way to work, not by car though... she is riding a bike! Lorelai thinks Rory is blue, but Rory says she's not blue, but you can tell Rory is blue, so Lorelai asks why she isn't blue. Rory tells her that Paris got accepted to six schools and some guy is joining a think tank in Washington. Everyone seems to be getting these wonderful opportunities while she waits to hear back about the NY Times job. Did she already forget about the other newspaper job that she turned down? Lorelai finally makes it to work after the long bike ride ... who knew Stars Hollow was so big. Once at work her Sookie begins questioning her about how Jackson has been acting. You can sense that there is a lot of tension building between Jackson and Sookie. We find out the source of the tension later. Anyway, Lorelai talks to Sookie about the car dilemma. She can't figure out what kind of car she wants. Maybe a sports car? Nah.. they think they are better than everyone else. Michel suggests she take out a second mortgage on her home and buy a Rolls Royce. That ain't gonna happen! After some thought she finally decides to ask Luke to help her. She gives him a call to see if he would want to go car shopping with her sometime. He is all for it, so they decide to go that day.

On the way to go car shopping Luke and Lorelai once again have a bit of awkward conversation. I'm beginning to wonder if they will ever just fix things. Meanwhile, Rory arrives home from class, I assume, only to find Doyle more or less getting kicked out of their apartment. He and Paris just broke up. For what you ask? Doyle doesn't even know. Paris tells Rory it's because she doesn't want Doyle to influence her decision on where to go to Graduate school. She is still freaking out about which school she should go to and now she's been accepted to three more schools so the decision just keeps getting harder. In good 'ole Paris fashion she's come up with a point system based on a number of factors to help her decide. Rory isn't that impressed.

While Lorelai is car shopping there is a major problem at her household involving Jackson. It seems he has accidentally destroyed her childhood dollhouse. Sookie is there to help bitch out Jackson. The argument leads to the real reason Sookie has been upset with Jackson. It's because he lied about getting Vasectomy and that's why she's pregnant now. She's still pissed off at him about it. Lorelai is still shopping with Luke, but she's just not getting "the feeling" and he's starting to get frustrated. After she tries out a newer version of her Jeep and still doesn't get "the feeling" her and Luke argue about "the feeling" which then goes into all their past issues. Even though they are arguing you know that this is going to do them good in the long run. They've just been needing to let things out and move past them.

Jackson and Sookie are waiting on the porch steps when Lorelai gets home. It seems they have worked out their issues as well.  Lorelai tells them how the car shopping went and that all she really wants is just her old Jeep back with all the memories in it. They then break the news of the broken dollhouse. Lorelai seems shocked and heartbroken at first, but then they tell her they found someone to fix it and she doesn't seem as upset.

Rory and Paris are having some drinks and dinner with old pals to celebrate their new apartment. Paris puts a damper mood on the whole celebration though. She's upset that she broke things off with Doyle, she tells Rory that Doyle wasn't pressuring her on where to go to school, that it's her own fault. Doyle told her not to make her decision based on him that whatever she chose they would figure it out, but she can't help but factor him in. She then starts to cry, yes Paris is crying... what is this world coming to? She tells Rory she wasn't supposed to meet "the one" until she 30 and had a career. Rory tells her that she can't plan everything. Paris then brings up a good point that leaves Rory thinking. What if she gets the New York Times job, but Logan gets a job in San Francisco. Would she move with him to San Fran and write for a newspaper there or would she choose the NY Times? She said she'd choose the Times. Essentially she is then in the same boat as Paris. She doesn't want to give up the relationship but she also doesn't want to sacrifice her dreams. Rory doesn't think she's in the same situation because her and Logan would just do the long-distance relationship again. Paris ends the convo with her telling Rory, "maybe choosing to be apart means choosing to be apart." Where does this leave Rory and Logan?

Many hours after the whole car shopping fiasco, Luke stops by Lorelai's house. He's greeted by Jackson who's wearing pajamas. Luke tells Lorelai that he found a 1999 Jeep just like hers in another town not far away. He's already checked it out and given it a test drive and it seems to be good. He tells her that she could buy that Jeep and then have them put the engine and other parts into her old Jeep so that she can still have the same one with all the memories. Do you think he's just being a good friend or does he want Lorelai back?

Now the next day and back at their apartment, Paris tells Rory that she's not sure where she'll go to school, but she has at least decided to what she'll be. She's decided that she'll be a doctor. She says she's always known that she wanted to be one. When she was a kid she'd cut off the dolls' heads to see what was inside. Lets hope she's learned since that there is more inside a human head than a plastic doll's. Doyle then comes back and tells her that he refuses to move out and refuses to break up with her. It's about time he grew some balls and stood up to her. They go to their bedroom to... Anyway, Rory gets the mail and the letter from the New York Times that she has been waiting for is there. She opens it with Paris's lucky letter opener. Unfortunately, it wasn't as lucky for Rory. The letter reads that they "regret to inform" her. Poor Rory! I was really hoping that she would get the job. It would have added a lot of interesting storyline to next season.

Next week, Rory tells Lorelai that she didn't get the job and that she'll never be able to show her face in Providence again.  Then in a surprising twist, Logan is going to ask Lorelai for her blessing to propose to Rory! Could the timing be any worse? I think Rory already has enough on her plate than to worry about getting married.

Beyond Awesome

Last night episode was so good. The only thing that would have made it better would have been Kelly Bishop. Luke and Lor bickering was the best and looks like they may, someday, get it back together!!!

I'm glad they went into the

I'm glad they went into the Sookie/Jackson thing a little more. I knew Melissa was pregnant in real life, but if you're going to work that into the series - a one episode revelation isn't going to cut it.

I'm just glad to know that Paul Anka is still alive and kicking.
