After improved performances last night, John Ratzenburg and his partner Edyta Skiwinska have become the sixth couple to be eliminated from season four of Dancing with the Stars. Defying all expectations by hanging in there for a seven-week stint, John’s run has come to an accomplished end. Not only is he the oldest competitor in DWTS history, but he also joined this season’s cast late, with considerably less time to train before episode one.
Retuning next week to perform two new scored dances are Laila and Maks, Apolo and Julianne, Ian and Cheryl and Joey and Kym. Not to be forgotten are Billy Ray and Karina, who narrowly escaped elimination.
Laila and Maks’ Samba won the judges’ encore performance coin toss, beating out Joey and Kym who had an equal score of 59/60.
Tonight we also saw performances from Meatloaf, nine of America’s best young dancers, the usual skit from Jimmy Kimmel and a hilarious guest bit from Kenny Mane.
In an ESPN SportsCenter spoof, Kenny hosted DanceCenter from the ballroom balcony. Clad in a sparkly dancer’s silk shirt, Kenny was joined by fellow DWTS alum Jerry Rice and judge Len Goodman to put in their two cents on the contestants’ performances.
Predictions for next week: Look for something ridiculous from Billy Ray, who is sure to go out with a bang—in his self-proclaimed “hillbilly” style. His week seven elimination seems inevitable, and the look on his face tonight was priceless: equal parts shock at being saved and pissed to have to learn another two dances.
