Dancing with the Stars: Season Four, "The Results"

Steve Sanders has left the building!  The semifinals were the end of the road for 90210 alum Ian Ziering and partner Cheryl Burke.  Despite their 58-point finish and hugely well-received “Elvis Jive,” Ian and Cheryl found themselves in the bottom two along with Apolo and Julianne.  It was a long fought battle for Ian to overcome his stiff dance floor demeanor, and after proving himself Monday night, now couldn’t be a better time for him to be sent home—on top of his game and leaving the best three dancers left to duke it out in the finals.

Dancing an encore of their Jive, Joey and Kim opened the show and were the first to be named safe from elimination.  Performances by Enrique Iglesias and world-renowned Flamenco dancer, Joaquin Cortez, filled a little time, and the judges offered their takes on the final four (the strengths and weaknesses of the athletes vs. the showbiz kids) in an abnormally interesting Results segment.  All this before Laila and Maks were named the final couple safe from elimination.

Though Ian looked disappointed, he didn’t look surprised to find himself in the red light.  On the other hand, Apolo and Julianne seemed a bit shocked (especially since Joey and Kym were in last week’s bottom two), and poor Julianne looked like she might burst into tears with worry!  In the end, Ian was sent off with a tearjerker recap of his time on DWTS and graciously thanked Cheryl, the other dancers, the judges and the home audience for his experience.

Next week’s finals show will feature a no-holds bar Freestyle round as well as a “judge’s choice” round.  Expect another bout of generous scores from the judges and some serious all out dancing from Laila, Joey and Apolo.
