The Office Season Finale

Wow, what an hour! Jim looks really clean-cut and, well, quite hot tonight. There's apparently an opening at corporate in New York, and Jim, Karen and Michael are all up for it. Jan shows up in Scranton. She's not happy with the way her and Michael's relationship ended. Michael's feeling slightly awkward and assembles the DM ladies in the conference room for advice. Jan says she feels good about herself and admits she actually misses Michael. He runs to the ladies for support - they tell him to be strong and not to get back together with her, but when he returns to his office to tell Jan, he notices her new boob job (hard to miss, actually) and is immediately weakened.

By the way, John K., why, oh why are you making a horrid-looking movie with Mandy Moore and Robin Williams?

Jan is showing off her new and improved chest all over the office. Everyone's incredulous (except Kevin, who loves fake boobs.) Michael, in his weakened state, decides to get back together with her - but not for the boob job. Sure. Meanwhile, Jim and Karen are heading to New York together. Pam says she's "happy" for them. Sure she is. Dwight interviews Andy for the job of co-manager, which entails questions on how to make a table and the capital of Maine. The questions lead to an arm wrestling match, which Dwight wins.

Jim is driving Karen to New York, seemingly unaware of the position she's interviewing for. Is it me, or is Karen being kind of bitchy tonight? Michael grabs Jan's boobs and she wishes him luck on his interview. For some reason, Micheal is in the best relationship of his life - love is a mystery.

Jim and Karen are in New York and unsure of where to go. Yep, Karen is definitely bitchy today. Michael heads out of the office, seemingly confident he's getting the job at corporate. He plays Natalie Merchant's "Thank You" and announces that Dwight is now in charge. Dwight takes over immediately and everyone (except Angela) looks frightened. Jim and Karen do the "Karen tour of New York" - they went to a restaurant in the Village and snuck into the second act of Spamalot. Karen asks Jim what's going to happen if one of them get the job. She says there's one too many people in Scranton. Gee, who's she referring to?

Michael runs into Jim and Karen in New York. He feels he's most qualified for the job. Dwight appoints Andy as his #2 guy. We get to meet Hunter - Jan's administrative assistant. He's cute. Dwight wants Pam to be assistant regional manger - secretly. Well, secret assistant to the regional manager. Jim taught Pam to absolutely accept any secret offers from Dwight. Michael goes in for his interview. He tells his weaknesses - he can work too hard and he's too committed. These weakneses are his strengths. Ok. The Scranton staff are debatong about who's going to get the job. Kevin thinks it's going to be Karen. Phyllis thinks it's going to be Michael - even though he's probably not qualified (he's not even qualified for his current position.) Dwight introduces "Schrute Bucks" 1/100 of a cent. 1,000 Schrute Bucks equal an extra 5 minutes for lunch. He also says there's going to be no more meetings - just a long, mandatory series of lectures on paper.

Michael is asked what he could do better for Dunder Miflin - he suggested a new name - like Great Paper or Super Duper Paper. Michael said he'd have to fill in another "love document" because he and Jan are back together. Michael then found out the open position he was interviewing for was Jan's. Uh-oh. Dwight delivers his first lecture on the Origin of Paper. It's falling on deaf ears. Stanley even rejects his Schrute Bucks. Pam sticks up for Dwight. She's a schemer. Karen is interviewing. She's asked her opinion of Michael. She says he'd be a "disaster" in the position. Jan asked Michael about the interview. He has the worst poker face ever and tells her the truth. She's really upset - was it because of her boobs? She's unstable.

Dwight is painting his office walls black - he feels everyone will now take him seriously. Jan leaves her office and bids a tearful farewell to Hunter. Michael isn't getting the job - according to him he's "respectfully withdrawing" his name from consideration. Jim feels bad for Jan - Karen doesn't. Jim is waiting for his interview, without Karen.

Jan is freaking out. She blames the painkillers she's ben taking for her surgery. He suggests they move in together. Yikes. Michael announces he's back in Scranton. Dwight looks distressed, so does Michael - who is wondering why his office has been painted black. He says he's never going to leave. Dwight thanked Pam for helping him out as the secret assistant to the regional manger. Pam is optimistic about her future - she's hoping to find a male Karen of her own. Jim is being interviewed. He nails it. He finds a note from Pam and looks uneasy about moving to New York - he said he'd miss his friendships the most. Jim talks to Pam about why he left for Stanford and he feels like he never really came back. Was that a fantasy sequence? Pam pretends like she won't really miss Jim - they never got the timing right. Well, until Jim asked her out. FINALLY! Yay Pam! Guess that's why they were amking Karen so awful on this episode. So - who got the job? Surprise - it was Ryan - who immediately broke it off with Kelly. Great season, guys! See you in September...
