American Idol- This Is My Blech

Well...Well...Whose "now" is it?Whose "now" is it?

I have to be honest, I was a little disappointed in this finale show. Melinda Doolittle was definitely missed last night. Because we're moments away from news of the winner hitting the east coast (and me having to run to a post-show party for my other job), let's get to it.

Round One:

Blake takes the first round with a reprise of his breakout song, "You Give Love a Bad Name." Dude can perform, flat out.

Jordin sang Christina Aguilera's "Fighter," and while I commend the effort to get less ballady and more current, Jordin can't sell it. My new name for her is "stand and deliver." She has a great voice, but does it matter if she can't perform? I don't need beat-boxing, but come on. At least sass it up Melinda-style.

Round Two:

Jordin ties things up on this one, singing "A Broken Wing" so beautifully that it doesn't matter how little she moves.

Blake goes for "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5, which is perfect for his voice and shows off his range. It's not very exciting though, especially when we've come to expect fun from him.

Round Three:

I didn't need to see the Idols sing this song to know that Jordin would kick Blake's ass with it. His talent just doesn't translate to the traditional cheesy Idol ballad, which this is, despite coming from the viewer songwriting competition.

It's full of crescendo and it's called "This is My Now." Ugh. Isn't there something they can do about this crap? Jordin sounds beautiful, Blake sounds bored, but I can hardly tell because my ears are bleeding.

Well, Chris Sligh loved it, at least.

The judges call the night for Jordin, and I am sure they are right. I'm just not sure how I feel about it. How about you?
