The Riches - "Waiting for Dogot" (Season Finale)

Seems like we just met Wayne and Dahlia Malloy and their kids, and it's already season finale time. How time flies! Actually, this episode was sort of disappointing - almost anti-climactic (I wonder if it was produced after the show got the green light for the second season.) Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. Oh well, let's get to the recapping...

The episode opens with Pete still wanting to know who Wayne really was. Wayne (as always) claims there's a rational explanation. Meanwhile, a creepy, Adaams Family reject-looking child is wandering through the offices at Panco with a realistic toy gun. He squirts Wayne right in his crotch with a red liquid (Kool Aid?). The little darling is one of Gigi's kids (More like one of Bebe's Kids, if you ask me!) Wayne excuses himself to go clean up and calls Dahila - and repeating some phrase that sounds like "skull crushe" or something (sorry, I don't speak traveler.) Pete finds him and demands answers...NOW... or he will expose Wayne as a fraud. Wayne tells him that Doug asked him to "be him" (Wayne's name is now "Gene Morangelo" - or something like that. And of course he has the fake ID to prove his identity.) Doug is supposedly in hiding, and Wayne promised Pete that he would contact Doug and arrange for a meeting of the two old friends.

Dahlia is crushing some pills in a glass (part of "skull crushe"?) and send the kids away. Nina knows something is definitely amiss, but Dahlia sends her away as well. Wayne takes Pete back to his house - he can only contact "Doug" from his home phone. Oh, and Pete can't speak with him. Pete is not happy about this at all. As they back out of the parking lot, they back right into Dale (alias "Greg Buffer"!) This can't be good. Dale says he'll come over to the house later to settle up.

Dahlia is putting the crushed-up pills into beer bottles (and one wine cooler). When Pete arrives, she offers him a beer and then a wine cooler. Wayne isn't happy that Dahlia reverted to an old trick (she's ready to pack up and leave, which she could do while Pete was in a drug-induced slumber.) Wayne has another plan.

Apparently, contacting Doug is a very complicated matter. Wayne calls the number, Pete must remain silent, while Wayne sings "Amazing Grace" and hangs up. Now, the waiting game begins....Pete actually trusts Wayne/Doug/Gene and Dahlia/Cherien/Louise, and agrees to stay for dinner.

Cael and DiDi are starting to pack up (they were given the "skull crushe" code as well.) Sam is being a "conscientious objector" - he doesn't want to leave, and he definitely does not want to paint over the mural he created on the wall, detailing the Malloy's recent history. Meanwhile, Pete is being a complete bite-in-the-ass. He refuses any carbs and demands a protein shake. Wayne passes Dahlia a note under the table that says "Slip and Slide?" Sam reluctantly paints over the mural. Wayne passes Dahlia another note, "Shady lady?" (I am assuming these are all cons they've pulled in the past. Don't think Wayne really has a plan as of yet.) Pete is getting fed up. He misses his friend and really wants to see him. Dahlia is fed up too, she wants to give Pete a ruffie-laden brew and move on. Wayne picks up a knife off of the table and gets an idea.  He tells Cael to call the house phone. Wayne lets the phone ring without answering and tells Pete, "It's him."

DiDi and Cael are moving their bags into the RV and run into Nina, who already found the RV. Dahlia puts a gun into Pete's pocket and the men head off to meet Doug. Dale then shows up, as promised. Dahila offers him a beer, but Dale knows that trick and refuses. Dale tells Dahlia that the family kicked him out and he just wants a "piece of the pie."

Wayne and Pete arrive in a desolate forest. Wayne pulls a gun on Pete and asks "Who sent you?" Pete (of course) freaks, until he hears someone making animal sounds in the woods. It's "Doug". Wayne responds and then gets a text message from "Doug" saying that Pete's not a killer, he's a friend. Then, "Doug" disappears.

Dahlia threatens to call the cops if Dale doesn't leave, and he finally agrees. He says he'll return. Meanwhile, Wayne explains to Pete that Doug was the witness to a murder - an inside job comitted by the police. Wayne is a "mechanic" - a trained killer - playing the role of Doug Rich while Doug hides out. Pete seems to buy this (I can't believe he did, but he did.) As they get back in the car, Pete sees red liquid all over Wayne's shirt. The gun he put in his jacket pocket leaked...Kool Aid. Pete now is positive he's being played and is furious.

Wayne and Cael drag Pete back to the house, and Dahlia has the special wine cooler ready. Nina and DiDi are in the RV, and Nina finds the stash of fake ID's and passports - DiDi says it's "not what she thinks". The Malloys are packed up and ready to go. Wayne gets a late night phone call from a devastated Hugh. Gigi kicked him out and he needs to talk to his only friend. As they family head to the RV, they encounter Nina. She says she will keep their secret safe. She really wants to go with them - but she says she'll always be there for them. (Nina really turned out to be one cool lady.) Dale returns to the house and finds panicky Pete - the drugs have worn off. The Malloys decide to head off to Mexico - but the RV has different plans, it won't start. Dale talks to Pete and suggests some sort of blackmail scheme. Pete is only interested in finding his friend. Wayne finds out that the distributor cap on the RV is missing (most likely Dale's handiwork.) Wayne says he has a plan...of course he does....

Dale volunteers to take Pete to the police station, and grabs a hammer on the way out. He slams Pete into the wall and then tells him they're going to take a little stroll. And that's the end. Kind of an abrupt ending - but I think we won't be seeing Pete anymore, and the Riches will still be residents of Eden Falls when we see them again. Phew - what a season, what a show!
