The owner of the club Michael lives above comes to him for help. His best waitress has suddenly stopped coming to work, and he doesn't know what's up. In exchange, he'll give Michael free rent for four months.
Michael goes to the woman's house, where he learns that she witnessed a crime by a local drug dealer and after going to the police, found a snake nailed to her door. She's afraid to leave, and she and her teenaged daughter have been holing up at home.
Michael goes to the drug dealer, who is less than sympathetic to the woman's cause. Realizing the guy is just a middleman on a whole evil drug lord totem pole, he goes to the cartel's lawyer in order to convince them to cut the dealer loose. He's just causing them more trouble, getting caught and harassing witnesses. Unfortunately, no one in this cartel can be reasoned with (isn't that always the case), and they go after the woman and her daughter, who escape under Fiona's expert care.
Now taking refuge in Mama Westen's garage, Michael tells the girls they have no choice but to leave town for good. They set up an elaborate rouse to make the cartel think they are going one place, when in reality they are headed for Buffalo. The daughter complains: she's got prom and a boyfriend!
Of course, just when it looks like the plan is in motion, that crazy teen sneaks off to her prom. Michael find her and some henchmen, and pulls her out of there in the nick of time. Having seen the danger for herself, she finally believes she has to go, and comes to terms with it.
Not so fast though, lady! Michael comes up with an idea to get the cartel to cut the drug dealer loose. He phones the dealer and tricks him into saying the right words to make it look like he is turning on the head honcho and cutting a deal with the Feds. Sam, who is of course talking to them about Michael, gives them the audio, which gets back to the lawyer. The dealer is ominously shoved in a trunk by some goons, and our girls are free.
Meanwhile, Michael and Fiona also track down an old friend of Michael's who gets him a copy of the burn notice. This obviously makes Michael happy, but Fiona stresses that he'll be leaving, and pressures him to give her a key to his place. Looks like as long as he's in town, she's planning to stop by unexpectedly.
