Degrassi: Marco's New Hobby

This week starts off with Marco's dad setting up a security system for Spinner's way cool T-shirt shop. Father Marco says he's off to play the ponies. He advises Marco to lighten up and live life a little. But Marco is too sucked into his computer. He is all sorts of bummed that Dylan left him to play hockey in Switzerland. Marco whines that he has been playing phone tag and has yet to receive any e-mails. It's like his boyfriend just disappeared. Spinner also advises him to lighten up. Marco far too busy playing online poker to care for Spinner's lecture about living life. He wins $200. Let the addiction begin! Later on, Marco attempts to call Dylan again. He unsuccessfully leaves a message. Paige walks in. Apparently, Ellie gave Paige the green light to date her ex. Paige claims Ellie must be a bit "colorblind". Oh, those witty Degrassi writers. But Marco is still down and out. Spinner insists they need to get out. Marco suggests he and Spinner take a vacation to Daytona Beach. They'll hit the beach and on some "hotties". Spinner is surprised Marco didn't suggest Switzerland to visit his Swister Mister. Spinner seems to have forgotten he is broke. He sunk all his money into his lame T-shirt store. Marco is overly confident that he can raise the cash via online poker. Marco logs on and starts betting. He wins and takes Jimmy and Spinner out to celebrate. While out to eat, Jay shows up. Marco tells him why they are celebrating. He goes on how he became good playing with his boyfriend. Jay makes a snide comment "oh yes, you're gay. Super." Jay says his friends from work always play and he invites Marco to join in on the bad-ass fun.

Meanwhile at Degrassi, Peter pulls Darcy out of some goody goody meeting. Peter gives her a silly necklace and tells her its the key to his heart. Darcy loves it, because she is a cheese. But they have to keep their relationship hush hush, because Peter is still in trouble from his street racing fiasco. Back at the apartment, Ellie and Paige are bickering over who gets Dylan's room and who gets Jesse. Marco explodes because he is busy trying to write Dylan an e-mail. Ellie and Paige finally shut up. Marco gets frustrated and gives up on the e-mail. At Degrassi, Peter and Darcy's pal Kim get into a tiff over the politics of internet safety and censorship. It goes there. Darcy and Peter start an argument in front of the to play off their secret relationship. It's all very corny and blatantly staged but they think they are slick. Spinner and Marco head over to Jay's poker game. Marco complains his life is boring. He goes on how he needs a rush hence reason for his partaking in the bad-asses poker game. At the poker game, Marco is playing well. He goes all in and takes the game. One of Jay's friends informs him that the guys have a chance to win their money back. They are on for another game tomorrow. Marco high from his winnings takes all his friends out to party. Marco is super happy he won and is going crazy at the club. Marco tries to convince them all to rock out but they all have responsibilities. Marco continues to rage and throw around his newly won Canadian cash. Spinner calls Marco an ass.

The next night, Marco isn't playing as hot as he was. Marco goes all in and looses it all. Marco claims he needs a loan to buy back in. The game is quickly busted by Jay's boss and kicks them all out. Marco doesn't think losing all that money was a big deal. Everybody goes bust. Marco is convinced he can win it back. Spinner isn't convinced and tells him to go home. At Marco's house, Marco asks his dad if he made any money at the track. His dad insists they had fun and that's what matters. Father Marco offers him some food. He gets up to get Marco something from the fridge. Marco eyes his dad's wallet. He snags it and steals all the cash. If it wasn't clear enough Marco has a gambling problem. At Degrassi, Kim walks in and asks if Darcy is ready to work on their project after school. Darcy says she has a grandma birthday thing. She really has plans with secret lover Peter. Darcy meets up with Peter at the park. Peter apologizes for all the sneaking around. Darcy thinks its fun. As they kiss, Kim spots them. Kim tells Darcy to wish her grandma a happy birthday for her and walks off. Marco sets up the next poker game at the t-shirt shop. They start playing their game. The cops show up. They set off the silent alarm. Shouldn't Marco know better? His dad installed it. Marco pleads to let them finish their hand- classic addict move. Marco winds up getting arrested for trespassing. Darcy sneaks over to Peter's house. Kim told Peter's mom about he and Darcy's rendezvous. Peter might be sent off to boarding school. Darcy believes that love conquers all. These two officially suck. At the police station, Spinner comes down. Spinner tells the police that Marco did not have permission to be there and Marco is really in trouble.

Darcy waits for Peter in their secret place. As she goes to leave, Peter shows up. He tells her he is being sent away. They pledge their love for each other and it's sickening. Marco's dad shows up at the apartment. His uncle told Marco's dad all about the poker game. Spinner ended up dropping the charges. Marco isn't really in any trouble. He asks about the $600 he is missing. Marco admits he was in the hole. Marco attempts to rationalize with his dad claiming he gambles every weekend. His dad asks if he is in trouble. Marco says it's Dylan. Marco cries that he is lost without him. Marco's dad isn't dumb. He says he abused his friends and family and Dylan has nothing to do with that. Marco says he is done with poker. His dad insists if he has any honor, he'll come to the shop to work off what he stole. Next week: Alex gets a new skanky job and Emma is pregnant.
