The morning after Area, Heidi is still incredulous. When did she get so jealous? Lauren wants to know, as does Heidi. Heidi's incredulity turns to outright anger after Audrina tells her that Spencer brought roses to their little "date" at Pinkberry only to hook up with Heidi that night after Area. Heidi gets Spencer on speakerphone and confronts him, egged on by Lauren and Audrina. Spencer immediately gets on the defensive and tries to do damage control, but Heidi's heard enough. How can she start fresh with Spencer when stories like this get back to her. Should she really be with someone who, as Lauren says, can manipulate her like that?
Teen Vogue is throwing a dinner for 20 young L.A. designers. Editor Lisa tasks Whitney and Lauren with organizing guest information into a spreadsheet as well as addressing the reminder cards for their guests. A New York editor will be arriving the next day to attend the dinner, and her intern Emily will be helping Lauren with arrangements for the dinner. Lisa warns? the girls that Emily is very hardworking, and that there is "the Teen Vogue way of doing things." Back in the fashion closet, Lauren and Whitney wonder what Emily coudl be like. If she's anything like Lisa (read: "precise") they may have little in common with their New York counterpart.
Spencer catches Heidi on the phone at work, where she doesn't want to discuss the Playmates from the night before any further. Does he want her in his life? she wants to know. The discussion, predictably, doesn't get anywhere before Heidi hangs up and gets back to her work.
Emily the New York Intern sweeps into the Teen Vogue fashion closet, beating Lauren into work. Lauren finds Emily's slouchy gold purse, dropped on Lauren's desk, just as Emily appears to introduce herself. It takes Emily no time to establish that she's organizing the dinner, not Lauren. Emily's already talked to Lisa about the flowers, so really all Lauren's got to do is drive to the florist to find appropriately "Chinoiserie" type blooms. Emily does not hesitate to rattle off her credentials -- full-time at NYU, internships at TV and Chanel -- before they arrive at the florist. Emily and the florist immediatel go ga-ga over the peonies while Lauren keeps quiet. Lauren does have a camera, though, so she can at least document the set-ups devised by Emily and the florist. Meanwhile, Heidi tells fellow Bolthouse employee Kristen about Spencer and the "Playmate-looking chicks". She doesn't appear to feel better about what happened.
That night, the girls meet for dinner with friend Jen at Luna Park to talk more about the boys. Lauren does admit to missing Jason, if only when she has things to do, like unload groceries and other chores that involve heavy lifting.
The next day, Lauren visits Whitney, who is recuperating at home after getting her wisdom teeth pulled. Whitney is taken aback at tales of Emily's extensive knowledge of flowers. Plus, there's that internship at Chanel. At Bolthouse, Heidi confied in Elodie, who is obviously sympathetic, but she can't make Heidi's decision about what to do about Spencer for her.
That night, Lauren, Whitney and Emily examine the table. While Lauren thinks there are too many flowers on the table, Emily thinks it's perfect. Lisa, however, calls for half the flowers to be taken off. But after Lauren's minor (if secret) triumph in taste, there's not much else, as Emily is taking the place of a designer is not attending, and Lauren and Whitney are simply not invited. After Emily air-kisses them off, the girls drive off for fast food. While it would have been cool to talk to designers, at least they got to participate in "the process".
Hillside Villas. Heidi in a strapless black mini-dress that just says "Date!" And who's the lucky lad? That cad would be Spencer. D'oh!
