Top Chef- Restaurant Skirmishes

you're undecided now, so what are you gonna do?you're undecided now, so what are you gonna do?

Apologies, but with the way this episode of Top Chef ends, "war" just isn't an appropriate term.

Quick-Fire: The chefs must make an upscale burger for French cooking legend Daniel Boulud. This is the first Quick-Fire that doesn't carry immunity for the winner, which as most chefs note, indicates that the game is on. A lot of the contestants go the seafood route, making burgers with shrimp, scallops and other things I don't eat. CJ ends up winning, and he gets the benefit of being able to choose his team for the upcoming elimination challenge...the much-anticipated restaurant war!

Elimination Challenge: CJ wisely chooses team players Tre, Brian and Casey, leaving an unhappy Howie, Sara M., Hung and Dale to unite. CJ's team becomes "Restaurant April" while Howie's crew is "The Garage." Both groups are doing an American Bistro-type eatery.

Despite being the "difficult" team, The Garage gets off to a quick start and agrees on their menu items with ease. They also realize that they have way more restaurant experience than April, which can play to their favor. April are all getting along as well, and as they are putting their spaces together, they definitely have the edge when it comes to decor- Dale and Hung are making wacky choices over at Garage.

Dinner time rolls around, and both teams struggle. Brian's first time working front of house is flustering him, and Tre is having a hard time with time management in the kitchen, over-smoking his potatoes and ruining the main dish.

At Garage, diners are turned off by the decor, scented candles, lack of speed, and heavy unseasonal menu.

When it comes time for the panel, the judges can't pick a winner or a loser. They tell both teams they can do better, and let them know they will have another chance, with a rematch, starting right away.

So...it was a skirmish, and we are now set for the war this week. Which team will turn their troubles around, April, or Garage?
