Weeds - Grasshopper (Episode 28)

This week's Episode was pure genius. It begins with Andy’s cooking juevos rancheros in his undies. Nancy shows him the heroin U-Turn is asking her to hold for him. Once she figures out she’s got hundreds of thousands of dollars in heroin in her house, she freaks out even more, while Andy pops a woody at the thought.  There were some classic Andy moments this week. It's cute that Andy's so territorial when it comes to his recipe box. We also got a brief glimpse of Andy getting turned on by the mating habits of lions.  He is the key of the show that had been missed in the past episodes.

Sullivan calls and wants to throw a party for the Agrestic city council, and asks her to plan it all. She’s got 5k, but is to make it look like 10. First way to cut the money? Have the party at her house. She’s trying to keep 4 out of the 5k she’s getting for the party.  Celia and Sullivan's flirtations developed into an actual date. I suppose buying your potential love interest a home greases the wheels a bit. Sullivan's comments to Andy about the film crew occupying Celia's house made me curious as to the genre of this movie. Makes me think of those house in the hills where porno is filmed.

Sullivan likes the food enough that he tells Andy to cator one of the movie sets. Sullivan then puts Nancy to work getting his guests drunk so he can get them to sign stuff and do his bidding. Celia and Nancy head to the laundry room, as Celia’s worried that Nancy hates her. Once she convinces Celia that she doesn’t hate her, Celia asks if Sullivan’s mentioned her at all.  Nancy of course lies trying to get Celia the hell out of the laundry room where the Heroin is being store.

grasshopper.jpgDoug gets some revenge on Celia and Sullivan, thanks to the dirt shrew and some profane golf balls. Those golf balls would be an interesting gift idea--for the right person, of course. Poor Doug is like  a child that misses his momy when left in kindergarden for the first day. Can wait to see what he does next week.

I was thrilled that this episode included a scene between Shane and Andy. Their interactions are always hilarious. Poor Shane's complaints about Majestic Summer School have been ignored so far, which is a bad sign. Shane tends to act out when he's being ignored by his Mom. I'm sensing a well-spoken outburst in our future.

Mary-Kate made her long-awaited appearance tonight, and guess what I didnt hate her, but hey its only her first episode.  To be fair, some of her dialogue was really dull. Most people would have trouble saying lines like"I'm tight with the Lord" and "Wine's OK, because Jesus drank that" with a straight face. I laughed when she said those lines, but laughed more with her when she told Silas that boners and pot are what God's love is all about. Now that's a creative interpretation of the Bible!

U-Turn, Nancy and Marvin go running up a hill, and while Marvin’s taking his sweet time, U-Turn’s having a heart attack or something. Marvin tell Nancy that he got high blood pressure and he sends her to get a banana for him or something. While she’s gone, Marvin smothers him with is big fat arm as payback for all the shit he’s done to him. Just as Nancy’s heading back up the hill Marvin starts acting all sad, crying and holding him. Hopefully this mean Nancy’s free!

While I'm glad that U-Turn's threats of harm will no longer kill the show's buzz, I will miss a few things about the Nancy/U-turn relationship. This week, it appeared that U-Turn was grooming Nancy as his lieutenant. He even had her destroy some of Conrad and Heylia's crop as a form of intimidation.  Which was classic. Hey soft ass turns over a pot with her hand, while U-Turn is telling her to be more mean and mean it. If Nancy takes anything away from this whole U-Turn experience, I hope it involves learning to be more of a bad-ass. It suits her better than the flakiness.

Can wait for next week, the funeral, Mary Kate's Second apperance, and what will happen with Celia now that Nancy seems interested in Sullivan, well at least in screwing his brains out.

This episode was great, I

This episode was great, I hope we have some post-mordem U-Turn moments. I'm hoping she keeps and sell that heroine now that U-Turn is dead. It is about 800,000 dollars worth of the stuff by shanes calculation.

Yep it really was a great episode pure genius as you said and it focuses on drug abuse

Is it possible to recover?

I know you liked it because it focuses on abuse but I'd like to see a story about somebody who actually gets better from this illness.

Wouldn't that be a more uplifting story instead of focusing on the negative stuff all the time?

I honestly can't tell if

I honestly can't tell if this is spam (spam for a rehab center - that would be a new one) or a legitimate comment about the episode/recap. I'm going to take it as the latter and just gently point out that if you're expecting or hoping for an uplifting storyline on Weeds, I think you're going to be deeply disappointed. It's really not the kind of show that does Very Special Episodes.

I agree that they should be more of an uplifting episode. If anything to surprise their viewers. ;)
