The final battle between good and evil in Imaginationland is about to unfold and all of the good characters are arming themselves (this week's cameos include Capatin Planet, Holly Hobbie and a smurf.) The only hope for Imaginataionland is the chosen one, Butters. He has a special power in Imaginationland that he has yet to understand. Meanwhile, back at the Pentagon, Al Gore watches the video of last week's attack and recognizes the "man-bear-pig" (and my husband had me convinced it was the bear-like creature from "Prophecy.") He's glad he's been proven right and the American people need to know about it, so he "flies" off (he's wearing a Superman cape and making flying noises with his mouth.)
Kyle is still in the hospital recopuerating from the attack. He's hearing imaginary voices (that sound a lot like Stan.) Cartman comes to visit and Kyle wants to know what happened at the Pentagon. Cartman is only concerned about is receiving the payoff from his bet. He made a sundae for Kyle but something was missing. He tells Kyle to "Get ready for your sundae...with extra nuts." The evil characters are rapidly approaching, but Butters still doesn't know his what his special power is. He's informed by the Narnia lion that he can imagine things into existence - and doing this will save Imaginationland. He has to start with bringing back Santa Claus. Butters uses his imagination and manages to conjure up his father, who turns into a monster. Poor Butters gets yelled at (by Wonder Woman and the lion), which probably isn't helping his imaginary powers.
Cartman is getting ready for his photo shoot; he now has a throne, a lighting designer and a pope outfit. Kyle watches a press conference where the Pentagon announces that they're going to have to nuke our imagination. One of the reporters asked if they have tried everyting - including sending Kurt Russell through the portal. The Pentagon spokesperson had to report that old Kurt was raped by the Christmas Critters. The Pentagon said that since the imaginary characters aren't real, they don't need Senate approval to send in the nukes. Of course, the hippie protestors have already gathered at the Pentagon to try and stop the counter attack. The media pundits say that the Pentagon doesn't really have a legal right to send nukes to destroy the imagination as the Cartman versus Kyle case set a precedent that imaginary characters were real. Stan contacts Kyle in his imagination. Stan's in the gumdrop forest and hears the horn (I believe it's being sounded by Asterix?) signaling the start of the battle. Butters is still having trouble conjuring up Santa. The best he can do is a Santa monster. Back at the hospital, Cartman's still preparing for the shoot and Kyle's still monitoring the news. The Supreme Court has decided that imaginary characters are not real and the imagination can be nukes. The Supreme Court also overturns the Cartman vs. Kyle decision. Stan tells Kyle that he can't let "Operation Nuke the Imagination Through the Imagination Doorway" happen, or he'll be destroyed. Stan's in trouble. Kyle heads out to save Stan and Cartman says they had a deal. Kyle said he no longer had to take care of his end of the bet. Cartman vows that Kyle will suck his balls by the end of the day.
The battle rages on. Popeye's kicking ass (he even kills Khan and Darth Maul) but, as Morpheus notes, he needs more spinach. Poor character from Tron meets his demise at the hands of the Christmas Critters. When all seems lost, Butters is finally able to bring Santa back to fight. The lion tells Butters his work has just begun. Kyle shows up at the Pentagon to try and stop the nuking. He gets sent to stand with the protestors and Al Gore swoops in, telling them it's the only way to destroy man-bear-pig. Butters begins to imagine more good warriors, but the battle is now being lost to the Cavity Creeps. No worries, Butters conjures up a large tube of Crest. Stan shows up and tells everyone about the potential nuking.
The launch sequence is underway, but there's a security breach. It's an incensed Cartman, demanding to know why they are now saying leprechauns aren't real. This starts a philosophical discussion as to what's really real (Jesus, heaven, hell, Buddha.)Stan tells Kyle that he must do whatever it takes to save Imaginationland from nuking. He has Jesus, Luke Skywalker, Superman and Hercules talk to him as well. No pressure, Kyle.
Popeye is under attack from the Christmas Critters. Butters saves the day by imagining more spinach for him (and an M-60 for Jesus.) It looks like the good characters are going to win the battle. But there's still the nuking to contend with. The countdown is still on, but there's another security breach, this time it's Kyle. He tells the military that they have to stop because he (grudginly) admits that imaginary characters are real. He said Santa and Luke Skywalker have more of an impact on lives than many real people do. They changed the way Kyle lived his life and they're going to be around longer than us, so that makes them "real" in Kyle's book. His passionate speech forced the Pentagon to call off the launch. Of course, Cartman thinks Kyle will now suck his balls - but Kyle (finally) told Cartman that once and for all, he was NOT sucking his balls. Al Gore comes in, wondering why the launch was aborted and tries to launch the missile himself (he says man-bear-pig must be destroyed.) He turns the portal on and everyone in the room - and the missile - are sucked into Imaginationland. The battle was won by the good characters, but Imaginationland ends up destroyed by the missile. The only thing left is Butters, who re-imagines a pre-attack Imaginationland (even the faux-Dreamfinder is back.) Cartman learned about the powers of the imagination - and imagines Kyle finally sucking his balls. The boys get sent back to the real world and Butters wakes up in his bed. He thinks it's all a dream. His father informs him it wasn't (it was in the paper) and he's grounded for not helping his mother clean the basement. He tries to imagine that he's not, but his powers are useless in the real world. Oh, well!
