Grey's Anatomy: Physical Attraction... Chemical Reaction (Episode 68)

After their affair and the separation of George and Callie, Izzie and George finally get to have the perfect hot (and sweaty) sex they've been waiting for. There's just one problem; the sex isn't hot or perfect, in fact the sex sucks. On the other hand, Meredith and Derek continue (for what seems like the billionth time) having break up sex, which just so happens to be perfect and hot. Derek has an affair going on though... with the Chief. Obviously not a sexual affair, but it is definitely a love affair, at least in the way that the Chief loves Derek for doing all his dirty work for him such as getting his clothes dry-cleaned, eating dinner and watching movies together every night. Sloane makes fun of Derek the whole episode telling him that he's "dating the Chief."

The day starts off with George and Izzie both, but separately turning to Meredith for advice on their horrible sex. Cristina finds out that Hahn has decided to take Meredith for the day over her, yet again. Meredith isn't happy with Lexie or Alex because of the night before when she caught them half-naked in the hallway (from last episode). The Chief tells Callie that the schedule is a mess and she better get it cleaned up. Callie decides to focus on her back-to-back surgeries for the day though and asks Miranda if she'll quietly play Chief for the day. Miranda agrees, but you know trouble is brewing.

The first patient of the day is Jerry, an older guy who had bowel obstruction surgery, but still can't crap and he's pissed. Cristina complains to Miranda about Hahn not teaching her, but Miranda has no sympathy. She tells Cristina that obviously she and Hahn just don't have chemistry so she's going to have to find a new speciality. Cristina is not happy at all, but chooses her speciality of the day to be the ER. As soon as she and her interns, including Lexie, get to the ER a woman comes in hysterical holding a baby. She accidentally fell down the stairs while carrying the baby, the baby girl was crying on the way to the hospital but then just stopped and the mom is scared to look to see if she's still alive. After Cristina takes the baby the mom collapses on the floor and doesn't have a heartbeat. As Cristina is finding out what's going on with the woman - it appears to be a punctured lung - Hahn comes in and has Cristina get out of the way so Meredith can take over. Cristina is confused as to why Hahn hates her so much, as am I.

The next patient is a little boy who has supposedly swallowed a marble. As George is checking out the boy the parents are bickering. Apparently the parents told the boy that after the hospital he could get anything he wanted, so the boy is ready to get what he wants. He asks his parents to get a divorce. Can you imagine? Things would have to be pretty bad for a kid to ask his parents to get divorced. The parents ignore what he says and then start bickering again this time about getting the boy a puppy.

Sloane is showing Izzie how to prep a patient for plastic surgery. The woman is complaining about when she last had sex, she then tells Izzie that with how beautiful she is she bets that Izzie has great sex. Yeah, right. She then tells Izzie that she has worry lines and wonders what Izzie would have to worry about.

The husband and father of the woman and baby shows up at the hospital. He really doesn't show any concern for the baby and just wants to be with his wife. When Lexie asks him what the baby's name is he tells her that she doesn't have one yet, they just adopted her last week and were getting to know her. Lexie goes to see the baby and pages Alex. He thinks she wants sex, but she just wants to have him apologize to Meredith for her. He tells her that her issues can't be his issues, he's just there for the sex. 

The first day (of three) has ended and Izzie and George are trying to have hot sex again. George suggests that maybe they try out some fantasizing. He tells Izzie that he'll do anything she wants him to. Things don't turn out so well though.

Cristina goes to Callie the next morning and tells her that the trying out new things isn't working. Callie lets her do an ortho surgery with her, even though Cristina hates ortho. Lexie stops by the young woman's room who collapsed the day before and apologizes to Meredith telling her she didn't know Alex lived in the same house as her. Just then the husband wakes up after sleeping on the couch the night before. We find out that the wife made it through the night ok which is good. Alex has to deal with Jerry - the guy who can't crap. Izzie's patient is the plastic surgery woman who is whining about the pain and refuses to get out of the bed. Callie and Cristina are in ortho surgery jamming out to some music, Miranda tries to talk to her about some scheduling issues but Callie asks her to deal with it again. Alex, Izzie and Lexie all try to find Callie because they are having issues their patients, so Miranda tries to handle it all. The Chief notices that she seems to be taking on the full workload.

The boy from yesterday who swallowed the marbles is back and this time he's in excruciating pain. It turns out that he swallowed a magnet, well, eight of them actually. Magnets are obviously much worse to swallow because they will destroy body parts as they try to cling together. Miranda and George have to get the boy into surgery right away before any more damage is caused. In surgery George tells Miranda about the boy swallowing the magnets just to get his parents' attention so that he could tell them to get a divorce. 

Alex and Izzie move their patients - the man who can't crap and the plastic surgery woman - into the same room so that they can bitch and complain to each other. The husband of the woman who collapsed tells Lexie that Hahn said his wife isn't in good shape. They can't do surgery because her heart is too weak so they just have to wait and see if she makes it through another night. The husband expresses to Lexie that if the wife dies he won't be able to care for the baby.

The second day ends and this time it's Derek and Meredith having sex. After the sex Derek remembers that he told the Chief they could do dinner and a movie. Just then the Chief walks in and sees Meredith naked in the bed with Derek. George and Izzie once again try to have good sex. They have the house to themselves and Izzie brings out a box of fun, alcohol included. Meredith comes home after being caught by the Chief and talks to Alex who warns her that Izzie and George have the house for the night. As they are talking outside Lexie pulls up. She asks Alex if he wants to get a drink at Joe's and he says sure. Meredith puts a stop to it though telling Lexie to get her own friends, get her own life and quit trying to live hers. Alex tells Meredith that if she doesn't like her then why does she care so much and then goes to the bar with Lexie.

We begin the third, and final, day of the episode with George and Izzie laying awake in bed waiting for the alarm clock to go off. As soon as it does they jump out of bed and go their separate ways. Later in the morning when Izzie and Alex go to check on their patients - crap man and plastic surgery woman - they find them having sex. Izzie is pissed that even they are having good sex, yet she can't. Hahn and Meredith are doing surgery today on the woman who collapsed. Cristina is still pissed that she doesn't get to be part of it. During the surgery Lexie sits with the husband to help keep him company. Meredith comes out to give an update and tells him that they put a patch on her lung. As she's heading back to the surgery she tells the guy that sometimes it takes more time to bond with the baby and that she's sure he knows more about the baby than he thinks. He rattles off five things that he knows about the baby. Meredith tells him that's five things no one else knows. Later Hahn and Meredith come out and tell the husband that they did everything they could. She died in surgery. He's shocked and walks out. 

Derek finally confronts the Chief about having to do all his cooking and dry-cleaning and them doing dinner and movie nights every night. They don't really clear anything up though. The Chief finally figures out what is going on between Callie and Miranda. He starts quizzing Miranda on everything that's been going on in the past few days. Miranda keeps telling him to talk to Callie, but then tells him what she would probably do - which is exactly what was done. The Chief catches up with Callie and fires her. Can you believe this? Do you think she'll still be part of the show somehow or is this the end of Callie? To be honest as much as I didn't really like some of her storylines, I do like Callie and think it would be really stupid for them to cut her out of the show.

Lexie meets with Alex later in the lounge and asks if he'll meet her later, but he tells her no, he doesn't want to get between her and Meredith and have to choose sides. She tells him that clearly he is picking sides. The Chief confronts Miranda about covering for Callie. He tells her that she deserves the credit, she deserves the job. He tells her he should've given the job to her in the first place, he hopes she'll take it now. She tells him it's about time he noticed and then she hugs him and starts bawling.

That night Lexie is looking at the baby that has now lost her mommy. The dad comes though and asks to hold the baby. He tells Lexie that he remembered another thing that he knows about the baby, she doesn't like riding in the car seat. He then tells Lexie he's going to name her Keisha because that's what the mom wanted her to be named.

Lexie meets with Meredith before she leaves for the day. She tells Meredith five things about herself, one of the things is something she and Meredith both do with their hands when trying to explain something. She says she hopes by telling Meredith those five things it'll make it that much harder for her to hate her. After work Lexie heads to Joe's and just sits at the bar with her head down. Meredith and Alex are sitting there. Meredith tells Alex to take her sister home. Does she like her or hate her? She seems to change her mind every week. Sloane and Hahn are also at Joe's. Sloane was observing Hahn the whole episode and seems to be attracted to her. Hahn tells him that she's not attracted to him and the only reason he's attracted to her is because of her skills. Cristina is at home finishing painting her (formerly Burke's) apartment red. Callie comes home (to the apartment) and tells Cristina that she got fired. The Chief talks to Derek and they clear the air so things are good between them once again. The Chief is going to do his own stuff from now on. When Alex gets Lexie home her dad is walking out to drive to the store and he appears drunk. Alex offers to go to the store for him to get him some more Scotch. Lexie asks Alex not to tell Meredith about their dad.

The episode ends with Meredith and Derek yet again having their good sex. Izzie and George are talking about how good their sex was, even better than the first time. But, then we realize they're just lying to each other. It looks like their relationship is over before it really even got started. I hope they're happy that they caused so much drama and broke up a marriage for nothing. I guess I'm happy things between them are probably over. It was way too much drama.
