Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann (Episode 105)

Last week Charity was the first to be eliminated from the competition.  With Team Bruno down one member and Team Carrie Ann riding high on their win, all eyes were on the prize—a recording contract from Hollywood Records.

A mechanical bull helped Team Carrie Ann celebrate before the start of Country Week, but it was soon down to business rehearsing their first number.  With the boys singing lead on "Devil Went Down to Georgia," Qis particularly stuck out for all the right reasons while Chris did not.  Unable to place his microphone back in its holster, Chris tossed it to the side of the stage mid-performance.   Although he continued dancing, he was from then out off beat and Bruno seized this flaw in his wrap up of TCA's performance.

With more than half of Team Bruno hailing from the South, this week's theme hit close to their hearts and showed in their performance.  Storming the stage to "Life is a Highway" (who knew that was considered a country song, by the way), the performance was well-choreographed and tightly delivered.  The vocals, however, weren't quite on mark.  Phillip and his guitar took the lead, and Carrie Ann rightly noted that he sounded forced.  The rest of the group was also a hair off pitch, though Bruno strongly disagreed.

Before TCA kicked off rehearsals for their last number of the week, coach Carrie Ann delivered a stern message to her young protégés: no puppy love.  Apparently, Qis and Mariele have an affinity for cuddling together and Carrie Ann was having none of it.  Let Britney and Justin be your guide, kids—it will only be a disaster!

Performing "Big Black Horse and a Cherry Tree," Carrie Ann was overjoyed with her group's delivery.  She said they pulled off the sophisticated and sleek number perfectly, but Bruno naturally had to oppose.  "This show is called Dance War," Bruno said, "So where was the dancing?"  Making a case for content, Bruno demanded that TCA return next week with more moves.

Rounding out the night's performances was TB with "These Boots are Made for Walkin'."  Kelsey was right at home in the Jessica Simpson role, complete with daisy dukes and blond hair extensions.  Everything was going great until the end of the song where the group inserted a weird little "walk out" bit.  It definitely distracted from the performance (and was a ripoff from TCA's performance last week) instead of being the modernization Bruno had hoped it would be.

Gathering the teams together on stage, Drew announced that America voted Team Carrie Ann a second-time winner based on last week's performances.  Devastated, Bruno was once again forced to eliminate a member of his team.  After trashing America for not realizing the hard work his group has been putting into their singing and dancing (a little stab at TCA there), he saved Kelsey who was in the bottom two last week.  Phillip was Bruno's second pick, followed by Lacey (a no brainer since TB couldn't be down to just one girl!).  This left Zack and Tony on the chopping block, with Tony being cut.

Other happenings: Matt Grant aka the new Bachelor was revealed, Taylor Swift performed and Julianne Hough was in the audience.  Think Julianne was there to support her Dancing with the Stars judges?  Possibly.  But she was most likely playing cheerleader for ex-fiancé Zack.  Yes, Zack!  Our leading man got the heave-ho form Julianne about a year ago … I presume because of her skyrocketing career and his dental school commitments.  Maybe his turn on Dance War could be the way back into her heart?  I vote for a kiss and make-up.  They're too cute not to be together!

Bruno vs Carrie Ann

It wouldn't make any difference if Bruno had Ginger Rodgers, Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly on his team! Nobody likes a cocky, know-it-all and Bruno needs to find some humility if his team is gonna get any votes.
