American Idol: Season Seven Top 8 Girls

It's the girls turn for embarassing '80's night. Who sang their way to the real show on the big stage? Read on!

Asia'h Epperson was a roller-skating extra who ran into a light. She sings "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," and starts on the stairs. Like the song, love her voice, but those high waisted pants aren't doing her any favors. Randy thinks it was hot, Paula says she's nailed it, but Simon isn't quite so enthusiastic.

Kady Malloy tripped over a microphone at school. Wah-wah. She sings Queen's "Who Wants to Live Forever." Randy and Paula like it, Simon thinks she's in trouble. I should hope so!

Amanda Overmyer burned down a pool. Umm, ok. She sings Joan Jett's "Hate Myself For Loving You," which is right back in her wheelhouse. She does a good job, but seriously, HOW could she possibly handle the weekly themes? Predictably, Paula and Randy like it, but for the second night in the row Simon overly praises a person I do not expect him to like.

Carly Smithson got her leg stuck in a railing and had to be greased out of it. She sings "I Drove All Night." I like the not-so-straight hair, but again, the high-waisted pants? This is the first time where I can say: Carly can sing circles around every girl in this show. Simon still thinks it isn't quite the right song.

Kristy Lee Cook used to pretend to be a dog, and drink out of a dog bowl. She sings Journey's "Faithfully." I cannot criticize a person for daring to touch Steve Perry's greatness, however futile a task it may be. Randy likes it and thinks it would be good as a country hit. Paula has nothing but positivity. Simon thinks she's forgettable.

Ramiele Malubay dropped off her picture at a boy's house, and then saw him and his mother laughing at it from across this street. Sadsies. She sings Phil Collins' "Take a Look at Me Now." She always sings the huge belting numbers, doesn't she? When are we going to see Ramiele have fun? Randy thinks she needs more confidence, Paula gets super distracted, and Simon thinks she's skating through on her teensiness.

Brooke White hugged a dude who wasn't her dad. Oops! She's singing an acousticked out version of "Love is a Battlefield," while sitting on the edge of the stage. As disappointed as I am to not see in her angry-dancing in a rag-dress, this is pretty cool. That said: she probably could have tried for a big note or two, or maybe stood up. Simon loves it and thinks she's super original.

Syesha Mercado struck out with a boy in second grade. Gosh, that must have been SO EMBARASSING! Sorry. She's just too polished for me. She's "Saving All Her Love For You," and she sings it well. But boring y'all, boring. They must be running out of time due to all of Paula's running at the mouth, but she gets good reviews, with one "predictable" from Simon.

Out at last: Kady Malloy. Joining her? That's tougher. I wouldn't mind it being Kristy, Amanda, or Syesha (that last one purely out of spite). I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't end up being Asia'h though, because I could see that happening...
