Asked to reprise their mambo, Jason Taylor and Edyta kicked off last night’s first season six elimination show. With one male and one female contestant set to get the ax, host Tom Bergeron wasted no time getting down to business.
Calling the men to take the stage, Tom and Samantha readily revealed that Steve Guttenberg and partner Anna were safe from elimination (yay!). Next in the clear were Jason and Edyta, Mario and Karina and Adam Carolla and Julianne. This left Cristian de la Fuente and Penn Jillette in the bottom two, and it was no surprise that Penn and partner Kym were sent home. Penn actually seemed relieved and admitted that he will not continue dancing in the future.
The women’s elimination round was much more emotional. The first couple safe were Shannon Elizabeth and Derek, followed by Marlee Matlin and Fabien, Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark and after some suspense, Priscilla Presley and Louis. This left Marrissa Jaret Winokur and Monica Seles in the red light. The poor things both looked petrified to hear their name called, and Monica had tears in her eyes when it was revealed she would be returning home. With some sweet words about her partner Jonathan, Monica left vowing to keep up with her dancing. Take that, Penn!
Filling in the rest of the hour were performances from the Jonas Brothers (Adam Carolla hilariously complimented the lead singer for having bigger eyebrows than he does—no easy feat!) and famed Cirque de Soliel choreographer. Last season’s resident hunk Cameron Mathison also returned for a segment where he hit the streets of New York in his “Super Cam” costume and interviewed viewers. Amusing, even though the superhero bit is so overplayed with him! The double elimination definitely made this "Results Show" more bearable and next week seems promising with a performance from Kylie Minogue.

thank you
Thank you for writing a balanced column. I am appalled when reading some other columns about celebrities, and Ms. Presley in particular. Priscilla Presley gets my votes. For dancing wonderfully and with heart, competing against some people half her age. Yes, it is cool. But also for allowing herself to be public, considering how the media continues to crtiticize her looks, as if her face is a painting to be critiqued. She is beautiful inside and out. Immediately prior to her DWTS debut, Ms. Presley adopted Max, a horse rescued from slaughter in Maine. He lives at Graceland now and is thriving. Ms. Presley personally oversaw the entire adoption herself, a process of several months. She went to Graceland to await Max's arrival. I think she's just terrific. A more compassionate person could not be found. Yet she receives little compassion herself from the public. Not only does she get my vote, I give her a standing ovation for putting up with the public. For recent untouched photos of Ms. Presley with her new horse Max, visit www.freewebs.com/sixhorsessaved. She is indeed beautiful. Dance on, Priscilla, dance on!
