Dancing with the Stars: "The Results" (Episode 606)

After Monday night’s performances, where frontrunners faltered (Mario, Jason) and a new leader emerged (Cristian), there seemed to be no likely elimination candidate.  As endless have proved before, a fan favorite can be saved despite their poor performances, and likewise, as Sabrina Bryan showed us last season, even the best of dancers haven gotten the early ax.  But sadly it was Steve “The Gutte” Guttenberg who bid farewell last night and exited the ballroom, but not before being asked to reprise his tango—joined this time by Jonathan instead of partner Anna.

The first couple to be named safe from elimination was no shocker, Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark.  Following suit were:

  • Adam Corolla and Julianne
  • Priscilla Presley and Louis
  • Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony
  • Jason Taylor and Edyta
  • Marlee Matlin and Fabien
  • Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl
  • Shannon Elizabeth and Derek
  • Mario and Karina

Performances from Kylie Minogue (looking cu-ute in a blonde bob wig but singing a bo-oring new song) kept us in suspense as the names were revealed, in addition to a segment featuring Dr. Pepper Schwartz, a professional matchmaker.  Dr. P examined the compatibility of each couple and determined Kristi and Mark to be a “match made in heaven.”  They both have a willingness to compromise and calm, temperate personalities, whereas other couples have the potential to butt heads, namely Marissa and Tony and Cristian and Cheryl, thanks to their dominant tendencies.  Mario and Karina and Shannon and Derek are so similar that Dr. P said things could go either way, while Adam and Julianne are strong opposites, giving them the potential to work extraordinarily well together.

Fillers also included a cultural dance troupe performance and a look into the “hobbies” of the celebs (freestyle rapping for Steve and running a psychic hotline Priscilla).  DWTS is really stepping up their game with the "Results" shows this season--big names, funnier skits ... it's almost bearable!
