The Riches - "Trust Never Sleeps" (Episode 205)

Wayne and Dahlia are trying to figure out what's become of Cael. Loudly. Wayne gets a call from Hugh. Sam, who was woken up by his parents' shouting, informs Dahlia that everything's going to be ok. Dahila tries to call Cael, he's not picking up the phone. He chucks his cell phone away. and heads out of Eden Falls. Sam goes out into Cael's tent and sees a man in the driveway. He starts to run. Hmmm.

The next morning, there's still no word from Cael. Sam says he needs to talk to his Dad, it's important. Wayne tells him that they'll talk when he comes home from work. Sam storms off. Dahlia tells Wayne that she's not going in to work at Panco because she says Hugh has her running errands for him all over town. Wayne looks suspicious. Dahlia continues to try calling Cael. Di Di told her that Cael won't answer the phone and that he's hit the road. Dahlia was mad that Di Di hadn't told her before. Di Di told her mother that she pushed Cael away.

Dahlia visits her parole officer, Officer Devereaux, with a urine sample and fills him in on her new job and home. He says he has to register her drivers' license and she lies and says she's not driving. I'm positive he doesn't believe her. Wayne comes into Hugh's office. There's a "major minor problem." They need zoning variances for Bayou Hills. Wayne doesn't see a problem, but the new guy who they need to deal with is strictly "by the book." He won't return Hugh's calls. Wayne tells him to go to City Hall and Hugh agrees, taking Wayne along with him so they can do a little "good cop-bad cop." Wayne walks into Dale and trips over his mail cart. He yells at Dale and tells him that Cael's gone, which elicits a curious reaction from Dale. Wayne then runs into (not literally this time) Chet Landry, the private investigator who has been looking into the disappearance of Doug Rich's old friend Pete. Wayne feigns surprise that Pete's missing. Dale makes a call, presumable to Eamon Quinn, and tells him that Cael's gone. Wayne tells Chet that he wishes he could help, but doesn't know what's become of Pete. Chet reminded Wayne that Pete was at his house just a few days earlier and asked questions about his "surprise visit." Chet asked if Pete had mentioned a therapist and Wayne said no, and that he seemed to be in good spirits. Wayne asks Dale if he knew about the detective. Dumb Dale asked Wayne if he told the detective what had become of Pete. Any glimmer of intelligence he showed last week has now been dimmed. Wayne tells Dale to keep his eyes open.

Back at the house, the Eden Falls security guard stopped by because something had triggered the alarm. And because he fancies Di Di. He is cuter than Di Di's emo beau from last season. She asks him if he has ever snuck into anyone's house, seeing as he had the keys and all. Somehow she talks him into sneaking into some of the other homes in the neighborhood. Wayne and Hugh talk to the man about the zoning for Bayou Hills and he says the process will take about 3 months or so. That's definitely not good news for Hugh. There's more bad news for Hugh. The only candidate to replace the mayor who was ousted as the result of some scandal is being replaced by a woman named Carol Phelps, who's a radical environmentalist. She's a dangerous eco-terrorist who's sure to go after Bayou Hills. Wayne suggests a solution - Hugh should run for mayor. Wayne said everything connected to Bayou Falls would be so easy if he was mayor. Hugh thinks he's crazy.

Cael finds himself in a bar, hustling at the pool table. Dahlia heads to the Quality Cafe for her night job. A group of thugs follow her and she turns to confront them. They all walk by her. Cael, of course, cleans up at the bar and sees an attractive girl pull a fast one on the cigarette machine, getting her smokes for free. Cael approaches her and chats her up. His game is interrupted by an invitation to play 9-ball. Pretty lady disappears and Cael gets hit by a burly bar patron and chased out of the place. An acquaintance from Cael's traveler days is conveniently in the parking lot and hides Cael in his RV. They take off and Cael thanks them for their help. They introduce themselves, Declan Cassidy and his wife Caitlin, which is weird, because Declan called Cael by his name. Meanwhile, it's almost 11pm and Wayne is concerned that Dahlia's not yet home, and doesn't plan on being home for a while. Devereaux shows up to check up on her. She tells him she's beat and is heading home. Devereaux asks her how she's getting hiome and she says she's taking the bus. He asks which route and she has an answer for him. He then offers to drive her home. She declines, saying she has to lock up. Her boss says not to worry, so she's free to ride home with the cop. Back in the Cassidy's RV, Cael asks Declan how he knew his name. He says he looks like a cousin. I am the slowest person in the world - of course this whole thing is Eamon's doing. Duh. The pretty girl from the bar emerges from the back of the RV, her name is Rosaline. Of course she's a traveler. Dahlia shows Devereaux her place. He starts to poke around while Dahila goes into the bathroom to answer a call from Wayne. She tells him she's going to a bunch of AA meetings and is mad that he doesn't trust her. Dahlia is mad that Devereaux is digging around her place. She apologizes for blowing up at him, saying she's mad about her son being missing. They actually have a "moment." He fidgets with his wedding ring, leading me to believe he can truly identify with Dahlia's loss. Wayne calls Cael and leaves him a message to call his mother. Deveraux is hangng around Dahlia's place and she can't get back to Eden Falls. Sam's still in Cael's tent - I thought they were supposed to have that taken down - and sees Chet grabbing their garbage, presumably to look for clues in Pete's disappearance.

Wayne is awoken by Sam, who tells him about the investigator going through the trash. He tells his Dad he found blood on the carpet and cleaned it with a towel - which he threw away. Oops. Wayne calls Dale and tells him they have a problem. Wayne asked Sam if he remembered what kind of towel he used to clean up the blood with. They find a match and Dale and Wayne go in search of the trashed towel. Dahila's car got completely stripped while she hid out in her new digs. She went down to investigate and got jumped by the street thugs. Devereaux saved the day and asks her what he should do with her. He knew the stripped car was hers. And it was stolen. He knows she's not living in that craphole apartment and is ready to turn her in. He tells her to stop lying to him. She begs him not to turn her in and says she'll do "anything" so that she wont be sent back to jail. Devereaux kicks her out of his car and says "we're done." Not sure what that means, exactly.

Rosaline asks Cael about his family, they're kind of legends iin traveler-dom. Cael didn't like the fact that buffer life was too much about "stuff." Declan and Caitlin are her in-laws, she was married, but her husband Brian died from a drunken fall. Declan says they're taking off and Cael says he's going to take off on his own. Rosaline asks him to join them and he succumbs to her feminine charms. Dale and Wayne are trying to figure out how to get the towel away from the P.I. Wayne cuts his hand to use the blood on a matching towel. Sam pops up in the back seat of the car. He wants to know if they're in trouble and why he's working with Dale. He also wants to know if it was Pete's blood on the towel. Wayne tells him it's all "very complicated." Dale calls into the hotel switchboard posing as Pete and calls looking for Chet. Chet gets called into the motel office to take the call, affording Wayne the chance to sneak in his room and switch the towels. Sam wanted to tag along. Wayne makes him the lookout. He looks all over the room while Dale tries to keep Chet on the phone, but he can't find the towel - and he's leaving blood from his cut hand all over the place. He gets a call. It's Hugh. Sam runs in while Wayne's on the phone and wipes the blood off of the doorknob. Hugh has decided he's going to run for mayor and Wayne's job is to make sure he wins. Meanwhile, Wayne finds the bag with the towel in it and makes the big switcheroo. Oh, and Hugh's back with Gigi. A mayor with a stripper wife. That looks good. Chet heads back to his room. Wayne, not aware that his son even went into the room, snuck out, leaving Sam inside, without time to escape himself. Just before Chet opens the door, Dale shows up,pretending to be drunk and claiming that the room was his. The two get into a fight, which gives Sam the opportunity to escape. Whew! That was a close one! Cael wakes up to find himself back at the old traveler's camp. And Eamon Quinn. Uh-oh. Wayne told Sam the towel incident was "too close" but complemented Sam on his efforts. Dahlia made it home and Sam told Wayne that he needed to tell her about the whole Pete/Chet thing. He said he would. Sam thanked his Dad for not abandoning him and Wayne said he would never abandon him. But, what would he have done if Dale hadn't have shown up? Hmmm? Wayne gets a call from Dale, who says the P.I. is "gone". With Dale, that could mean a few different things. Wayne asks Dahila if she's heard from Cael, but her cold response indicated she hadn't. He asked her where she was the night before. She tells him she slept in her car because it wouldn't start and then told him that Cael was on the road. Wayne is still suspicious of Dahlia's stories. He apologizes for doubting her and says he trusts her. Sure he does.
