The Hills: Girls Night Out (Episode 324)

Girls night! Whooo!: Image courtesy of MTV.com.Girls night! Whooo!: Image courtesy of MTV.com.I know I should pretend to care about Heidi and Spencer's relationship drama but I really don't. This week's episode featured Heidi trying to assert her independence -- "gaining myself", as told to Audrina over lunch at the Epic Records cafeteria. Of course that gets thrown in her face when a girls' night with Stephanie, Audrina, and Chiara at S Bar gets interrupted by Spencer.

Heidi can't ignore him, even though he's all the way across the room, doing shots with a group of girls who don't even look old enough to drink out of sippy-cups. Before long, Heidi has to leave the girls' gathering to have a screaming match with Spencer in an unflatteringly-lit vestibule. Oh, and those girls totally walked past and gave Heidi the stinkeye. Planted and payed for by Mr. Pratt (or possibly MTV?) to make Heidi do whatever Heidi does, which is shake with anger or tension like a chihuahua? I'd say so.

For me, the real excitement was seeing Whitney and Lauren at PR, in the middle of preparations for L.A. Fashion Week. There are models to book, looks to put together. The girls are busy but seem to be keeping up with the pace. The office is chaotic but everybody and everything are working. Except maybe LA publicist Jessica -- she's tasked with busywork while Whitney and Lauren have a short though important powwow with Kelly for last-minute details, critical as the show that PR is producing for Whitley Kros is the very next day.

The show goes off without a hitch, with the girls wrangling models, confirming lighting concepts and cues, and basically being the eyes and ears of the operation. The girls are rewarded with praise, which from Kelly and Emily is not "We so love you!" as "Wasn't that totally hard? But you did it. Alright, here's what we've got next...". Kelly congratulates Whitney on moving up "the bitch ladder", jokingly of course. But more seriously, Kelly and fellow PR partner Emily tell Lauren they'd like to offer her a job. With Jessica in earshot, Kelly says they're looking to make changes in the LA office. She then sends Jessica off to do some things, like making sure her daughter and nanny get home safely (read: away from the conversation that may seal her fate at PR for good). So is Jessica just done for the night, or is she done for good?

Other notes: I wonder if I should be recapping those awful little Alicia Keys for Dove promos, but I can't bear to watch. Let me know in the comments if you want or not. And did anyone notice that PR is next to a Babeland? Oooh, naughty!

Next week: Justin Bobby returns! Lo and Lauren look at houses!

Dove Short Recap

PLEASE DON'T!

Those shorts are boring, corny and
waste of time and money. Who came up
with that idea, it does not make want
to buy the product at all.

No love for Dove

Anonymous, I couldn't agree more. Those shorts are painful to watch. Which is why I mute my TV when they come on.

Thanks for the feedback!
