We're almost at the half way point on this year's Idol, and to be honest, it hasn't really lived up to the "most talented group ever" that Simon promised us. Maybe it's because, as he now says, no one has enough personality?
Once again, I've called Syesha as the one to go -- but chances are I'm wrong, especially given the way last week went (Michael Johns, I still miss you!). Here's what happened!
Ryan divides the contestants into two groups: David Cook, Kristy Lee Cook and Brooke White are in one, and Jason Castro, Carly Smithson and Syesha Mercado are in number two.
Ford Ad! N*Sync-y puppet video to "I Want to Break Free." Of forced car-hawking? Too bad!
David Archuleta is brought out for the awkward "you're safe, now pick a group to join" moment...but first! David Cook and Syesha, switch places. Oh Ryan. Always with the new tricks.
Archie can't handle the pressure, so he sits on the floor. Ryan tells him that group 2, which now contains David Cook, Carly and Jason is safe, but no one seems to get it until the third or fourth time it's proclaimed. When they finally do, they join Archie on the floor, except for poor Carly, who is in a skirt and doesn't want to flash America.
The all-girl bottom three is instantly winnowed to Brooke and Kristy Lee (Syesha safe again?! Sigh). Brooke and Kristy argue over which one of them is for sure going home, as they are both convinced it's them. At last, Kristy Lee gets the ax. Just when I was finally getting used to her!
Kristy sings her farewell song right in Simon's face, and kinda rocks it.
Next week: Andrew Lloyd Webber night (cue the "it sounds broadway/cabaret/theme park remarks).
