Battlestar Galactica: "Faith" (Episode 406)

I think SciFiHD is still figuring out the HD part...I think SciFiHD is still figuring out the HD part...

We begin exactly where we left off, with Kara getting all mutinied on by Helo and the rest of the crew. Gaeta is about to execute a jump back to the fleet, but everyone is losing their minds, screaming at each other. Anders puts a round into Gaeta's leg and that brings the argument to a standstill. Kara then says what she should have said in the first place, that she'll take a Raptor to the baseship and not the entire vessel. Why didn't anyone suggest that a long time ago? Anders is going along and Kara asks Athena to go with, she needs someone fluent in Cylon. Turns out there's no way that the Raptor can get back to Galactica again, but they can with the baseship. They only have 15 hours before they will miss the rendezvous with the fleet. The clock is started and Starbuck is on her way.

39,675 survivors.

She and the Chief could have a Hair Club meeting...She and the Chief could have a Hair Club meeting...Back in the fleet, Tory is helping President Baldy pack up her papers. Roslin asks Tory to help her keep a very close eye on what she's doing, because she's worried about what she might be missing in her state.

On the Demetrius, Starbuck and crew prepare to leave with Leoben in tow. Also joining them is random redshirt #1. Redshirt thinks Kara's awesome and wants to be there when Starbuck finds Earth. Athena kisses her husband goodbye and away they go. I suddenly realize that on this crew (even though they don't know it) the Cylons out number the humans three to two. Are all comets actually damaged baseships? How would you know? Are all comets actually damaged baseships? How would you know?Unless whatever Starbuck is isn't quite human any more, and in that case, Redshirt is the only human along for the ride. They jump into the wreckage of the Cylon civil war and begin their search. They can't find the baseship easily due to all the debris and leftover exploding ordinance. They come into the clearing and Kara sees her vision, gas giant with a shooting comet... which is actually the derelict baseship. Kara is over-joyed, but it doesn't last as the ship gets pelted with exploding debris.

On Demetrius, Gaeta is terrified that he's going to lose his leg. Every minute they wait, the more likely it is that Coddle will have to take it. I'm guessing that it's going to come to pass and Gaeta is going to be bitter from this point on.

Elsewhere, Kara comes to and the Raptor is docked inside the baseship, beat and tattered. Everyone is okay... well, except for Athena who is more than a little jumpy around all of her model sisters. I guess they're numbers weren't as reduced as I had imagined previously. They're proud of her, because she's the first one to ditched their programming. They were attempting the same thing with the rebellion, but now they know that its been a disaster. They want Athena to help them mutiny against the Sixes, but Athena teaches them a little lesson about picking a side and sticking with it. Kara wants to see the hybrid, but the main Six is a little jumpy about them. Leoben convinces her that the only way that they can work with the colonials is to let Kara see the hybrid... and that's the only way they can survive. Athena gets into the baseship systems and determines that they have to pull the hybrid offline and patch the Raptor in to be able to make jumps. Unseen by any of the others, Anders observes Athena accessing the ships controls with the puddles of water and wonders if he can work the controls as well... Six reluctantly agrees to allow them to make the changes, even though it might kill the hybrid.

In the flight bay, one of the other Sixes runs into Redshirt and they have themselves a little tiff. If you can call it a tiff when Six kills Redshirt (somewhat accidentally to be fair) for drowning her once on New Caprica. Anders is ready to put a bullet in Six's head right then and there. He's still a little conflicted about the whole Cylon thing. Kara calms Anders down to a degree, but the Six in charge comes over and realizes that her sister is damaged. She holds resentment of the humans, even though they tried to work through it with her. Six knows that there's no saving this other Six and she knows what has to be done. After kissing what is essentially herself, she reaches up and pulls the trigger on the gun still in Anders hands. And like that, the other Six is gone. No resurrection, blood for blood, can they move on now?

"It'll get worse. Fan boys, conventions... sci-fi can ruin your career.""It'll get worse. Fan boys, conventions... sci-fi can ruin your career."Back in the fleet, Prez Roslin makes awkward friends with Major Kira, off Deep Space Nine and also dying of cancer. But she's a Baltar enthusiast, which causes more than a small amount of friction. Later, Kira apologizes for her behavior before when Roslin tried to turn off Baltar's religious broadcasts. She gives Roslin a gift of a head scarf and jokes with her about what color her hair might be when it grows back in. She warns Roslin that the cancer is going to get a lot worse. She tells Roslin how she listens to Baltar because she had an experience similar to the types of things that Baltar speaks about. She was on a ferry and she saw all of her family on the other shore of the river. We see glimpses of the vision she had and how clear it was to her. Baltar understands that there is a power that is beyond them and that's certainly something that she now believes

I thought in space no one could hear you scream?I thought in space no one could hear you scream? On the baseship, Kara goes and listens to the ramblings of the hybrid, not able to make much sense of it. She doesn't speak directly to Kara. Her speech is one part reporting on trying to repair the baseship and one part existential nonsense. Kara can't make sense of it, no matter how she tries. Leoben tells her that you have to absorb the words and that the fate of two races cannot be delivered to her easily. However, back on Demetris, we see that there may not be time for Kara to wait. The Raptor is ready and Kara is frustrated, and she decides to take the hybrid offline and to get going. When one of the Sharon models unplugs the hybrid, the hybrid starts screaming. The free-willed centurion in the room misunderstands her actions and shoots and kills the Sharon. The centurion is quickly taken down, but not before the model dies, spilling her blood into the bath of goo that the hybrid lies in. Kara climbs in close and the hybrid reaches out of the goo and tells her “Thus will it come to pass. A dying leader will know the truth of the Opera House. The missing three will give you the five who have come from the home of the thirteen. You're the harbinger of death, Kara Thrace. You will lead them all to their end. End of line.” And with that the hybrid dies.

Kira continues to discuss with Roslin how the “Cylon” God is no more or less real than the Lords of Kobol. If it's the one true God, then he belongs to everyone. She needs something real on her deathbed, not just metaphors. Roslin breaks down thinking about her own dying mother who looked for Athena to take her away at the end of her life. Roslin knew that there was nothing at the end, just black. But Kira points out that that is what Roslin saw, not her mother. She has no way to know what her mother experienced.

On the baseship, everyone gathers around the dying Sharon and she asks for forgiveness from Athena. She can't take her hand though, and instead its Anders that steps in provides her comfort. I wonder if the Sharon could sense Anders true nature at the very end? At any rate, Anders opinion of the Cylons changed that day. The group figures out some of the truth of the ramblings of the hybrid, that the home of the thirteenth refers to the thirteenth tribe of humans who went to Earth and the five are the final five Cylons and the three refers to D'Anna, boxed away. Anders perks up his ears though that they think the final five Cylons know the way to Earth and that D'Anna will be able to ID them.

Elsewhere, on a ferry, Roslin is standing with Kira, both restored to health. Kira sees her family and in an instant is on the shore with them. Roslin sees her own mother standing on the shore and she tells her that she's not ready, not yet. And with that, Roslin awakes back in the sick bay and discovers that Kira has died while she slept. The voice of Baltar still echoes through the room and with that, I think Baltar's congregation might have just gained another member.

How long til they trash this ship like The Blackbird or Pegasus? How long til they trash this ship like The Blackbird or Pegasus? On the Demetrius, they're preparing to jump away, leaving the crew on the baseship for dead. At the absolute last second, there is a flash directly above the Demetrius. It's the baseship, dwarfing the sewage treatment ship. And with that, they head back to the fleet with their very own baseship.

In the fleet, Roslin discusses her state of mind with Adama, who is always the skeptic. He's puzzled by the things that have happened to him recently with Kara and Lee. Roslin tells him that they'll find Earth together. Adama used to be skeptical about that as well, but Roslin made him believe...

NEXT WEEK: Hey! Remember that hybrid baby? Is she going to have an arranged marriage to Lil' Chief?
