Swingtown: Season 1: Episode 07: Heat Wave

 Heat Wave Or Not You're Still Smoking Hot To Me

We start off this episode with Tom in Tokyo, partying with his crew at the hotel.  The blonde stewardess named Bobbi is once again trying to get with Tom.  He turns her down and decides to go get some ice; probably to cure his condition of blue balls.......As Tom leaves his phone rings.  Of course Bobbi just HAS to answer it and of course it just HAS to be Trina.

When Trina hangs up the phone you can tell that she is a little pissed.  She goes back to looking at old photos of her and Tom that she took back in her photography days.

Susan and Bruce are trying to figure out how they are going to fix their air conditioner in this heat wave.  Being that it is so hot all the repair workers are booked for the next two weeks.

Bruce tells Susan that he's been showing Melinda the ropes at work.  He thinks she has a bright future if she plays her cards right.  Susan mentions how Melinda called Bruce one of the good guys and this is proving just that.

Susan drops Bruce off at the train station and tells him she is going to start working on putting the wallpaper up even though it is 100 degrees and she has no idea what she is doing.  They run into Janet and Roger.  Janet invites Susan out to shop for new shirts for Roger because he was promoted.  Roger still hasn't told Janet about losing his job.  Susan turns her down because of the wallpaper.  This doesn't discourage Janet who says maybe they will be neighbors again soon.

Bruce decides to go out with Melinda for a drink after work.  He talks about how he got started with his job.  He was pumping gas and there was this one guy who always tipped him 5 bucks.  Bruce saved the money and one day gave it to the man telling him to invest it for Bruce.  Instead the guy decided to hire Bruce.  That was the day Bruce discovered how important relationships are.  That was the day?  Is it me but I think this story is a little weak.....But then again I think Bruce is kind of weak.

Laurie is on her way out when Susan congratulates her on the summer grades that just arrived.  Susan tries to find out who Laurie is going out with but Laurie decides not to say anything because she doesn't want to jinx it.  HAHA right.....maybe Laurie doesn't want to tell Susan because she knows her mom won't approve of this relationship.

Trina arrives back home after taking some pictures.  She has decided to start up her photography habit again.  Trina however comes home to find Tom and his crew having a pool party.  Trina is extremely annoyed by this, especially because of Bobbi.  She confronts Tom about sleeping with Bobbi.  He doesn't deny it, saying that Bobbi is on their list.  Trina says fine let's have a pool party.  This is not good........

Laurie meets up with Doug to watch his softball game.  She is introduced to one of his "girl" type friends who asks Laurie if she is grad or under grad; because after all, Doug only dates the smart girls.

Janet's phone is ringing when she gets back from buying Roger new shirts.  It's the store saying her check has bounced.

Meanwhile, Roger arrives at Susan's house.

At the pool party Trina decides to take pictures of everyone.  One of Tom's co-workers, Rex starts hitting on Trina, even decides to give her a backrub.  Tom talks to Bobbi about Trina having an issue with them.  Bobbi thought they had an open marriage.  Tom explains he thought they did too.

Roger explains to Susan he hasn't told Janet yet about losing his job because he was hoping to find a new one.  He tells Susan that ever since she and Bruce have moved Janet has been trying to keep up with the Jones. 

Roger decides to call Janet right there and then to bring everyone out in the open.  Janet however isn't home. Next Roger decides to take a look at Susan's broken air conditioner.  I thought for sure this was finally going to be the moment when they kiss.

 But Janet decides to go to Roger's work to find out about the check bouncing.  What she ends up finding out is that Roger was laid off.  Janet doesn't understand why Roger didn't tell her.

At the bar Mareno shows up and asks Bruce and Melinda if they want to join a poker game.

Instead of making out with Susan, Roger figures out what is wrong with the air conditioner.  Susan is surprised he was able to fix it.  Roger explains that he went to college.  The air conditioner works for about a minute but then the power dies.

Susan's phone rings.  It's Bruce who is also feeling the power outage in the city.  He tells Susan that if the power doesn't come back on he will take a cab home.

Tom comes over to take Trina away from Rex.  He tells Trina right off the bat that he isn't going to bring Rex into the mix.  Trina says maybe she wants to make a mistake too.  Roger and Susan then show up at the party. 

Melinda ends up winning the poker game.  Mareno warns Bruce to be careful playing with fire.

Susan asks Trina if she is OK.  Trina tells Susan all about Bobbi but says that they will get through this.  Roger comes out wearing Tom's trunks and takes his shirt off.  Trina is impressed and starts taking pictures of his sexy abs.

Laurie finds out from Doug's friend that he was offered a full time teaching job at her school but hasn't decided yet if he is going to take it. 

Bobbi invites Roger and Susan to the basement.  Susan admits to Roger that Bruce and she haven't connected in awhile and that is why they decided to swing in the first place.  She tells Roger that he is loyal, caring and smart.  Roger notices that Susan got a little much sun today and proceeds to touch her shoulders.  He decides though to go home.  Trina takes a picture of the two of them together.

Rex asks Trina to join him in the basement but she turns him down.

 Back at the bar, Melinda tells Bruce that she has an apartment right around the corner.  Guess that is how she thinks you play your cards right. 

Tom goes down to the basement looking for Trina.  He's happy to find that she isn't down there.

Bruce comes home from work and decides to take a shower.  Odds are this means that Bruce DID have sex with Melinda but there was a heat wave so wouldn't it be funny if the writers just tried to make us think that?????

Laurie tells Doug that he should take the job at her school.  Doug explains that he is just trying to live in the moment.  Laurie asks if they can go back to his place tonight but Doug says he wants to take things slow and easy.

Trina asks Tom if he would have told her about Bobbi if Trina hadn't caught him.  Tom admits that he doesn't know.  She says maybe it is time  to make things exclusive between them again for awhile.

Roger comes home and tells Janet about losing his job but it is too late.  She's mad that he didn't feel he could trust her.  Roger says he needs more from her and himself but doesn't know what that is yet. Janet says whatever Roger needs he can have.

Bruce realizes that he is in bed alone. Susan is sitting by the air conditioner thinking.  Roger and Janet sit down to dinner by candles.  The lights come on but Janet decides to turn them off.  Trina is developing pictures.  She finds one with Roger and Susan looking like they are longing for each other.........
