How I Met Your Mother: Do I Know You: Season 4, Ep 1

You're Not The MotherYou're Not The Mother

Welcome back! So last season we left off with Barney getting into a bus accident only to discover his love for Robin and Ted proposing to Stella.

This episode starts off with Ted telling his kid's the longest pause in life is when you ask someone to marry you; Ted meaning Stella.  In his head we see Ted thinking of every possible response that could come out of Stella's month.  The No, the hell no and of course the hahaha no...Ted the worrier hasn't changed much this season.

Stella however decides to go a different route and says yes.

That summer Ted and Stella spent it happily engaged, Marshall unemployed, Lily working on her painting and Barney rehabilitating himself from the bus accident. Oh, and Robin continued her work at Channel 1.

At the bar, Robin explains that no one takes her seriously working for Channel 1.  She's a boogeyman with a teleprompter.  Barney thinks this is hilarious and is the only one laughing.  He tells the group that Robin's joke has the whole package; what you're afraid to let yourself want.  Of course he is referring to the joke :).

After a frantic call from Barney, Lily shows up at his apartment to see what is wrong.  Barney confesses that he is in love with Robin.

Marshall bugs Ted for some info regarding Stella so Lily can plan her bridal party.  The problem is that Ted doesn't even know simple things about Stella like her favorite color or what her hobbies are.  This concerns Marshall so he asks Ted what the color of Stella's eyes are.  Ted doesn't seem to know the answer to that one either.

Barney tells Lily that he can't eat or sleep because he is always thinking of Robin.  A girl walks out of Barney's room.  He's even sleeping with that chick and thinking about Robin.  Oh Barney, he means well but just doesn't know how to keep it in his pants....Damn Barney's first girlfriend for ruining his romantic side!

Marshall is concerned that Ted and Stella might be rushing into things. They've only known each other for two months.  Ted tells Marshall that he does know one thing, that he loves Stella.

Lily is furious with Barney sleeping with other people when he is in love with Robin. She tells Barney if he wants her help he has to stop sleeping around.  Barney gives his word.

At the station, Robin is reporting a story about the local ice cream man and how it could be a meth lab on wheels. You can tell she really can't take much more of reporting these types of stories.

Ted cooks Stella dinner.  She's impressed with Ted's pesto sauce and asks what's in it.  Ted explains the usual but asks her to guess his special ingredient.  Stella guesses it right, peanuts and then passes out.  Looks like Ted didn't know she was allergic to peanuts too.

Ted feels horrible and when they get back from the hospital Ted decides he needs to know everything about Stella.

Lily tells Barney to call Robin on the phone.  Barney freaks out, and leaves a voicemail involving a slight girlish squeak.  Lily laughs saying he left a voice but it wasn't male.

Lily doesn't understand why Barney is having a such a hard time talking to Robin. He gets booty calls all the time.  Barney happily explains that you don't have to say much to get a booty call.  At 9am we see Barney on the phone asking if Stacey is busy tonight and wants to hang out later.  At 12:22am Barney just asks if she is busy.  At 3am he texts her with a question mark.

And this America is why having a relationship with men today is impossible.  When girls go over at 3am to get booty from a question mark. Men won't want to date us girls who demand respect and actually make them wait to have sex.

Lily is appalled by this.  Barney doesn't think it's any worse than Lily and Marshall's code word when they want to have sex; which just so happens to be rhinoceros.  Now Lily realizes she'll have to come up with a new word with Barney knowing and all.

Robin calls Barney back and wants to know what's going on.  Lily suggests he ask her something about herself.  Barney asks Robin when she got her first period.  Really? Wow.  Lily tries to help again by telling Barney to ask Robin out. Instead he freaks out and hangs up the phone.

Ted decides that Stella and he need to talk about their firsts.  We find out that Stella's first movie she ever watched was "Benji" and Ted's was "Star Wars." Stella admits that she's never seen "Star Wars."

Marshall can't believe that Stella's never seen "Star Wars." What happens if Stella doesn't like the movie?  Remember when the two of them had a problem with Robin not liking "Field Of Dreams."  What is it with these guys basing everything off of movies?  Do guys really do this?

Ted tries to calm Marshall down by telling him it's just a movie.  The two sit down to watch it together and after 121 awesome minutes Ted realizes if Stella doesn't like this movie he can't marry her. Gee what happened to for better for worse?

Lily sets up an alone dinner with Barney and Robin. Barney has no idea and is freaked out when he finds out it will just be the two of them.

Ted decides that Stella needs to watch "Star Wars." As they sit down to watch it Stella gets up to get a beer explaining that she won't be reading the scroll on the TV right now anyways.  Ted looks like he is going to die.

As Stella walks into the kitchen, Marshall jumps out from behind the couch.  He's supervising to make sure Ted is marrying the right woman. Marshall is such a good friend; a little creep but still a good friend.

At dinner, Barney is really nice to Robin, so nice that it starts to freak her out.  Barney even changes his catch phrase to saying "Tonight is going to be deeee.....lighful."  Robin tries to reincarnate the old Barney by talking about her chiropractor appointment and how he bent her over and pounded her for an hour. Nothing from Barney.

Ted is staring at Stella as she watches the movie and tells her how beautiful she is. Stella takes this as Ted wants to make out.  Instead Ted keeps talking about the movie over Stella's kisses.  Stella begins to realize how important it is to Ted that she likes this movie, so she decides to make Ted go to his room so she can concentrate on watching it.

Back at dinner, Barney and Robin's huge busted waitress comes over and practically rubs her breasts in Barney's face.  Still nothing. Robin can't believe this saying she was even thinking of doing a little motor boating with those twins.

Barney tells Robin he doesn't always want to be that guy.  He asks Robin to tell him something Barney would never know about her.  Robin explains that there is a job opening at a new cable network.  Robin decided not to apply though because she is a joke at Channel 1. Barney makes her promise that she'll agree to apply.

How much you wanna bet Robin applies, gets the job and has to move; then Barney tells her how much he loves her, she stays and they fall in love?  It's just a theory ya know......

Ted and Marshall check on Stella watching a movie to find her texting away on her cell!  Turns out though that Stella is texting Ted to stop watching her. Good girl :)

After dinner, Barney and Robin decide to have a drink at the restaurant bar.  Barney is about ready to tell Robin when she says she'll be right back.

Stella tells Ted she loved the movie but quickly changes her tune when Ted leaves the room.  She tells Marshall that she hated it.  She even goes so far to call Chewbacca a bear!

I guess I can't be too cruel on her. It's like me making someone watch "Labyrinth" or "Goonies" today.  It was amazing back in the day but not so cool today when you are older watching it for the first time.

Marshall explains to Stella how much that movie means to Ted and asks if she can pretend to like a movie that she hates for the rest of her life. Stella says "I do."

Robin comes back to the bar with the waitress from dinner.  Robin wanted to thank Barney for being so nice at dinner by playing wing woman.  She even went so far to tell "April" that Barney plays for the Yankees.  Robin leaves and Barney tells April the truth; that he is in love with Robin.

Lily encourages Barney that he can't give up on Robin when April walks out of his room.  Lily is extremely pissed and tells Barney that he can't be in love with Robin and still have sex with all these bimbos.  Barney decides that if he has to pick one he is going to go with the bimbos.  Lily frustrated leaves.  Barney turns the TV on and sees Robin reporting the news.  Why must guys always make things so difficult?????

At the bar, Lily yells the word chimichanga. Marshall explains that they have to leave. And there you have it; Marshall and Lily's new sex word.

Random thoughts: Stella can't be the mother. Remember Ted bumping into a brunette at the St Patty's day party at the bar?  He told his kids that their mother was at that party that night. Oh!!! And doesn't it look like Robin got a nose job????
