If anything good came out of Misty Mae Treanor's injury-induced departure from Dancing with the Stars, it's that Rocco DiSpirito will be on hand to serve another round next week.
Although the celeb chef and cutie extraordinaire came in last place when the combined judges' scores and at-home votes were revealed, Rocco and Karina were spared elimination--as were all of the remaining couples. The bad news is that all scores from this week will roll over to next, meaning Rocco needs to bust a serious move in order to hang on.
Meanwhile, it seem that Cloris Leachman could do nothing at all on the dancefloor and not be voted off! By far the biggest surprise of the night, Cloris and Corky were saved, second to only Brooke Burke and Derek. Cloris' kooky antics have run their course for me, but apparently America wants to see more. This speaks volumes for our nation. Yikes.
Appropriately, the first couple safe were Brooke and Derek. After a near-perfect Viennese waltz Monday night, this mom is the chick to beat. Maurice Greene and partner Cheryl were next to join the red room festivities. While Maurice seems to blend in with the pack at times, he showed us with his jive that he can polish things up and shine.
The lovable Warren Sapp is another one to watch. Despite being an all around big guy, he's got moves! Toni Braxton seems to be inching her way into the leading pack as well. Totally uninhibited when he comes to her costume choices, Toni needs to bring that same spirit to her choreography. Only so much can be hidden by clothes (or lack thereof).
Unfortunately, Susan Lucci will also be back next week. Her sugary sweet persona ranks up there with Cloris Leachman's babbling in my book. From her Boxtox to her pilates obsession to her extreme focus on each step of the choreography, Susan needs to loosen up and have some fun! And then maybe she'd actually be fun to watch.
The boy heartthrobs (past and present) Lance Bass and Cody Linley are still in the running. Looks like N*Sync and Hannah Montana fans rallied to keep the guys around, but I think Lance will eventually plateau while Cody (thanks to Julianne's choreography skills) will begin to really wow.
Lots of special performances rounded out the night: Maks and Edyta danced what would have been Misty and Maks' jive routine from Monday, Jennifer Hudson sang her new single, Cool and the Gang sang their old hit and the Rockettes showed us their famous kick and smile.

Brooke vs. Cloris
It seems like there are really two fan bases for the show. People who like Ballroom (and therefore hate Cloris) and people who like entertainers (and love Cloris, Lance, Susan etc...)
Either way, this season has had plenty to offer both camps. Brooke is one of the best Star dancers of any season.
