Dancing with the Stars: The Results (Episode 709)

Despite a second chance at safety, chef Rocco DiSpirito and partner Karina Smirnoff were forced to say their ballroom goodbyes last night. Unable to uncover his musicality, Rocco's sweet nature and good looks weren't enough to win over the judges or the at-home voters. But, I have a feeling he may have won his partner over! I want the dirt now that they're off--my trusty tabloids better uncover some details, stat!

Returning next week to tackle one of four brand new dances in the DWTS repertoire are Lance Bass and Lacey. After encoring their Halloween-ish tango (sans Lance's eyeliner and fancy hairdo), L&L joined Susan Lucci and Tony as the first couples to be announced safe. Susan's Erica Cane-licious tango was a winner with her daytime devotees, but we'll have to see if she can keep up the momentum or if she's simply a one-trick pony.

Naturally, Brooke Burke and partner Derek are coming back for another round. And this time, Brooke promised to be more demur than her samba--something she's probably not used to hearing! The other half of the Hough duo, Julianne, also found herself safe from elimination thanks to partner Cody Linley's breakthrough tango Monday night. He's got the chops, but his itty bitty attention span may prove to be his own worst enemy in the weeks to come.

Rounding out the winners circle were Toni Braxton and Alec, Warren Sapp and Kym, Maurice Greene and Cheryl, and wouldn't ya know it, Cloris Leachman and Corky. But now that Cloris has done the slapstick and serious routines, will voters tire of her sloppy technique? Inevitably in my opinion, Cloris, Maurice and Susan will be the next trio to go. And rightly so.

In happier news, the ballroom kids' competition is back this season! Watching these rug rats tear up the floor is hysterical. Their talent and candor completely blow me away, and I'm totally jealous a ten-year-old can bust out moves I could only dream of doing half as well. Returning later in the season to vie for the kids' title are Hannah and Kirill. Other performances last night included Neo and a shirtless flamenco dance troupe. You can just imagine the dorky things Samantha Harris had to say about that.

The gossip is that Karina's

The gossip is that Karina's hooking up with Maks, not Rocco. I'm sorry to see Rocco go because he brought the pretty and he was so enthusiastic, but I'm not surprised he got booted. At least I'll get to see him again soon on Top Chef!
