Grey's Anatomy: There's No "I" in Team (Episode 82)

We begin right where we left off last week. Meredith is in bed reading her mom's diary learning about her time as a resident. Callie and Hahn are back at Callie's place, Cristina is out for the night, so Callie and Hahn drink some wine together. It doesn't take long for them to decide NOT to take it slow and they're on top of each other.

The next morning, Derek shows Meredith that he's on the cover of a national magazine for his work on "The Shepherd Method." This is the method that he and Meredith worked on together and killed all those people before they finally got things right. Meredith is mad that she wasn't part of the story considering she's the one who came up with the trials and with Derek's help THEY came up with the method, together. She seems to brush it off at breakfast as she heads off to work but you can tell this will boil up later.

Callie goes to Sloane to tell him about her and Hahn trying to get it on the night before. She tells him that she wasn't about to go down. She got up and left this morning before Hahn woke up because she was too embarrassed to face her. Sloane leaves, he tells her that it's hot when two women do it but not when one is freaked out by it, he says that's just wrong.

With last week's exciting news that George is now going to be a resident, Lexie decorates his new locker. The other residents are there sort of rolling their eyes at her. Meredith is venting to everyone that the magazine called it "The Shepherd Method," instead of "The Shepherd-Grey Method."

Bailey takes the residents to find out what their big project is for the day. All of the residents say they have other things to do but Bailey says none of those things will be happening today because of this major project. It turns out it's a project called a "domino surgery" in which there are 12 patients and there will be six kidney transplants, all at the same time. This is a very tricky surgery that has never been done before. Anytime it's been attempted in the past one of the patients bails out at the last minute and then the domino effect happens. Bailey says they need to make sure that doesn't happen.

Hahn and Callie run into each other. Hahn says she had a great time and wants to do it again. Callie doesn't say much but Hahn doesn't catch on.

George is dealing with one of the 12 kidney patients, but none of the interns are respecting him. They still keep treating him like he's an intern. Lexie says she'd respect him if she were his intern.

Meredith runs into Derek at the elevators. She already pressed the button but he insists on standing there and pressing it a billion more times. She makes a joke that it must be "The Shepherd Method." They end up getting into an argument over it not being "The Shepherd-Grey Method" and she decides to just take the stairs. Derek goes to Sloane to vent to him about Meredith, Sloane is working on research for his own medical trials because he's jealous of Derek.

One of the patient's is a middle-aged black man and his son is participating in the domino surgery so that he can get a kidney. We find out that the son is only doing it because his dad is going to give him $10,000 as a Christmas present. Izzie and Alex have to tell Bailey about this because technically by law the guy is paying his son for an organ which is illegal but Bailey sort of pressures them to stay quiet in her own way. She tells them what could happen if someone were to have to drop out and it would be the end of the project. Alex and Izzie know the consequences so they decide to keep the little gift a secret.

An even bigger issue pops up in the 12 people which threatens to ruin everything. This guy needs a transplant so his wife is giving one to one of the other 5 that needs one in order for her husband to get a matching one. The tricky thing is that the guy's mistress is also there and giving a kidney. The wife doesn't know he's been cheating though so this is bound to erupt into a full blown fight, and it does. The mistress yells at him telling him that she can't take it anymore, he needs to tell his wife. The wife ends up overhearing them. She tells Bailey that she's not going through with the surgery, and ultimately there's not much Bailey can do it about it. The whole project is in jeopardy now.

Callie tries talking to Sloane again at lunch but once again he leaves. The residents line up all the interns at lunch and try to figure out which of them they will give to George to be his permanent interns. They are talking outloud what each of the interns is best and worst at.

The patient's son from earlier is now even more pissed off because the domino surgery may not happen after all the poking and prodding. But, he's really only concerned about whether or not he'll still get the money if the surgery doesn't happen. After leaving the room Izzie and Alex get into an argument over how to handle the patient and son. Alex yells at Izzie telling her that she always gets too involved and yada yada. He looks like a giant asshole yet again and Izzie tells him just that.

Derek and Meredith get into yet another fight over the "Method." He tells her that she hasn't even scratched the surface of all the things she needs to learn. This is true but it doesn't change the fact that she's the one that came up with the medical trials and worked her ass off for them, probably more so than he did even.

Bailey and the Chief discuss what they're going to do about the domino surgery. The Chief reminds Bailey that you can't, by law, coherse a patient into giving an organ. If she did then they could lose their license. Chief tells Bailey that it's over.

Hahn asks Callie if she'd like to grab a coffee together. Callie finally admits that she's having problems with this whole thing. In fact, she tells Hahn that she "can't do this." Hahn realizes what she means and that last night was not good for her. It must not have been that bad if Hahn still had a good time even with Callie not going down.

The patient with the son opens up to Izzie and Alex about why his son hates him so much. He says that his wife (the boys mother) died and he has had to work a lot so he hasn't been around for his son. This doesn't really give reason for his son to have such hatred but I guess it explains a little.

Bailey talks to the wife of the cheating guy before she signs papers to drop out of the surgery. She more or less guilts the lady into the surgery, but again in Bailey's own unique way. She reminds the lady that if she did, and she's not saying she should, give a kidney it would be helping five other people, not just her husband. The lady ends up agreeing to do the surgeries afterall thanks to Bailey's speech. Whether this is cohersion who knows but whatever it was it worked and that's all that matters.

All of the surgeries go well, at least until Meredith drops a kidney. No joke, she dropped a health kidney on the hard floor! Bailey quickly yells "five second rules, five second rule" and everyone scrambles to save the kidney. Luckily for Meredith they're able to save the kidney and all is fine. Everything is fine except Meredith's ego.

While everyone is in surgeries Callie goes to Sloane, for the billionth time. This time she grabs his attention though. She asks him to physically help her learn how to be good down there for Hahn. He loves this idea and immediately starts stripping. And, at this point I'm guessing I've just lost your attention as you're rushing to search for pictures and video of him stripping, right? Don't deny it!

After the surgeries the residents are once again sorting through the interns trying to figure out who to give to George. The Chief finds out and just takes random interns and gives them to George. He and Bailey then get a page that the black male patient (with the son) is having difficulties. Alex goes to the son's room and tells him that his dad may be dying and he may never get to talk to his dad again, and he'll have to live with that for the rest of his life. Alex is literally yelling at the son (who is in his late teens by the way). Izzie comes in and tells Alex to quit yelling and then glares at the son. The son ends up coming upto the room and breaks down crying because he realizes what an ass he's been.

The mistress asks Cristina if the married guy she was in a relationship with has called or came to check on her at all but Cristina tells her that he hasn't. Apparently the guy is more concerned with where things stand with his wife and what is going to happen now.

Lexie finds out that she isn't going to be one of George's interns and that he didn't even request her. She goes off on George for not even asking for her after all that she has done. She helped him study, she decorated his locker, she's been there with him the whole way and he didn't even think to ask for her. He doesn't even see all the things she does for him. She tells him that she's an idiot and he's a jerk, and she walks away crying. George stands there speechless and it finally dawns on him what a jerk he really is.

The Chief asks Meredith, who is still moping around depressed how bad she screwed up, to go on a walk with him. He takes her to the room of the man who is having difficulties with his kidney transplant and then takes her to the room where the lady, who has the dropped kidney, is and that lady is doing just fine. He tells her to let it go now.

Bailey goes over the status of each of the patient's later with the Chief and she's feeling horrible that the one man is having problems. The Chief tells her that one out of all those twelve patients is a pretty good report card, and he's just excited about all the amazing press that this will get Seattle Grace. He tells Bailey to be ready for interviews tomorrow. She doesn't say anything but the look on her face is confusion, she's not sure whether to be happy about the success or upset that one of them is having problems.

As Bailey is getting ready to leave for the night Derek stops her to get her thoughts on the "Method" story. He tells her that Meredith is acting silly because she didn't get credit. Bailey, who is obviously not one to hold back, tells Derek the truth. She says Meredith worked hard on that and he could at least start by telling her 'thank you.'

Meredith and Cristina go to the bar after work. Derek shows up a short time later with a kidney in a jar for Meredith. All the residents wanted a kidney in a jar so it's a perfect gift! Meredith and Cristina are both amazed that he got her one. They go home and go to bed, the kidney is glowing. Weird!

Izzie goes to Alex's room and tells him that no matter what he says or does she's not going to stop caring about him and she knows he cares for her too. He keeps telling her to get out but she just keeps repeating it. Finally, he kisses her! It's about damn time that these two hooked up again. Are you guys thrilled too or what?!

As the episode is ending, Callie goes to Hahn and tells her to take off her clothes, they're going to try it again. And, as Cristina is getting ready to leave the bar she finds someone too, sort of. She spots GI Joe doctor from a few episodes back. He mentions to someone in the bar loudly that he can't drink too much, he starts work tomorrow. It looks like Cristina may be getting her  a man again.

Next episode, GI Joe doctor is officially joining Seattle Grace but it may not be for long. He makes mistakes right away, though he won't own up to them, and he acts like he doesn't even know Cristina.
