Dexter - "Turning Biminese" (Episode 305)

Dexter went with Rita to the doctor and saw the image of his baby for the first time on the sonogram. Dex was used to stopping hearts, not starting them. Rita was "gushing" with emotion, but the only thing Dexter can feel is Rita's hand clenching his. He can no longer deny that he's going to be a father. The doctor tells Dexter that "everything looks perfectly normal." Little does she know. Dexter hit the links with Miguel and he asked to see the picture of the unborn kid (which he knew Dexter, like all expectant fathers, would have in his pocket.) Miguel tells Dexter that his life is going to change forever and goes on to tell him about the latest case he's working on - a man who killed his wife on a cruise ship. He's got no jurisdiction because the crime was committed in international waters. His only hope is federal intervention. He knows the guy's guilty because five years earlier the guy killed his first wife with a drug overdose and was able buy a "legal dream team" with his late wife's money to fool a jury into letting him go. Dexter says he may do he and his new BFF a favor and look into the case.

While Miguel and Dex played golf, Sil and Rita enjoyed the spa services at the country club. Rita said the massage was fantastic and Dexter said that "lying naked on a table...helpless" wasn't really his thing. Sil offered to list Rita's place with her real estate agency so that she could find a place for their soon-to-be bigger family - and Dexter could move in sooner. Dex said he was actually thinking of keeping his place (maybe he could sublet it.) Rita and Sil were both getting on his case and Dex knew how Custer must have felt, "surrounded on all sides...doomed." Miguel apologizes to Dexter for Sil's enthisuasm. Dex knew he'd have to give up his place, he just didn't think it would be so soon.

Dexter heads home and looks up Ethan Turner (the cruise ship killer) to make sure he meets with his code. He said Rita just couldn't expect him to pack up and leave his home and wasn't ready to leave his sanctuary. Or Harry, for that matter, who showed up in a "dream sequence" telling him that soon everything that was his would be Rita's. He then takes out his slides and says that he hopes Rita doesn't insist on a place with central air. Rita may be moving him out of his sanctuary, but there are some things he still controls - like the life of one Ethan Turner.

Anton and Deb arrange a secret meeting to meet yet another possible lead in the Freebo case. They keep meeting, but Deb says she hasn't gotten "bumpkus." Anton corrected her and said it was "bupkis." (Anyone raised in Miami knows that. Trust me.) The new informant is passed out in an alley. She tells Anton to take off before someone sees them together and Anton thinks it's "cute" that she's trying to protect him. Deb tries to revive the passed-out informant. Anton tells her that the guy used to score from Freebo. Deb and her less-than-gentle ways failed to revive the guy. Anton told the guy he had heroin and the guy, named Tilly, finally came to. Tilly told them that  Freebo was gone - and he got the information from someone named Wendell.

There's another victim with some skin missing. The sherrif's department found the body, but Miami Metro was there to investigate because of a connection to their case. Vince is polite and serious. Angel was surprised at his professionalism. Quinn told him that he may have just learned the error of his ways. LaGuerta met with her team and said that they were going to share files with the sheriff's department. It was just "professional courtesy," but they were in charge. Deb says that they tracked down Wendell, the 15-year-old kid who was Freebo's "doorman" (and the one who led Dexter to Freebo's house the night Oscar was killed.) Angel says they have to get consent from a parent to question him and Quinn says that everything's under control (which pisses Deb off.) Miguel called Dexter to cancels ther lunch. He told him that the feds weren't going to move forward on the cruise ship case because there was a lack of evidence. They try to reschedule, but Dex says he may be busy the next day because "there's due diligence to be done."

Back at the station, Deb sits with Wendell until her mother can be found. Deb has a human moment and her cold little heart thaws a little while she talked about her childhood and how Harry never watched her softball games. Wendell was surprised to hear that she played softball, saying "But you don't look gay." Deb finally acted like a human being to someone. She volunteered to pick him up some chow from the roach coach downstairs. Deb caught up with Dexter at the elevators and asked when he and Rita were getting married - because she really wanted his apartment. A well-mannered Ramon headed to the station to check out the files. LaGuerta was surprised he was sent over to be the sherrif's liaison after his last performance, but she knows he's there to dig up information on his late brother. LaGuerta says that he will have the department's full cooperation - to a point, but if the cases arent related, the cooperation will be withdrawn.

Dexter said he was glad that Miguel introduced him to a new hobby, tracking down Ethan Turner. He easily found his latest future victim in a sporting goods store. Ethan's off on another Caribbeean cruise. Dex asked about good dive schools and Ethan suggested he go to Bimini - it was the first port of call on his cruise. Angel gave Deb some good news - they finally got in touch with Wendell's mother. Angel then talked to Deb (who started as a vice cop) and asked if the undercover girls moved around a lot. Deb said that if he really wanted to know about hookers, he should ask Vince, who is becoming increasingly dour and has taken a page out of Deb's obscenity handbook. Of Vince, Deb said "Somebody needs a hug. I'd offer him one but I'm afraid of what I'd catch." She says the "dress shoe-wearing, please and thank you zombie Matsuka" freaks her out. Vince says he realizes that he has no friends. People only want him when they need something. He said no one read his article and no one went to the conference he spoke at. He said everyone hurt his feelings.

Wendell's mother showed up and wouldn't give consent for her son to speak with the cops and took him away. Quinn told Deb that the mother knew that everyone who talked the cops was later found dead. Deb's not diggng the new partner - but how many epiosdes until they hook up anyway? Angel went looking for some "local talent" and found vice cop Barbara. He was up to any mischief, he just wanted to ask her out on a "real" date. She turned him down, saying that she "rarely" dates cops. But she didn't say "never", so at least he's got a chance.

Dexter goes to Rita's for dinner and finds home brochures spread all over the table. Some of the houses even have central air. Yikes. Dexter says he's just not ready to look at houses...yet. Rita asks he could sit for the kids while Sil and Rita house hunt, but he says he's going fishing the next day.

The next morning Dex loaed up the "Slice of Life" for his Bimini adventutre. He's hoping to catch up with Ethan during his day-long in Bimini. Just before he heads out, Miguel arrives at the dock. He asks to reschedule lunch and jokingly suggests skipping his court appearance and joining him. Dex internally said "Please, don't." Fortunately for Dex, Miguel is a busy man and univited himself from the outing.

Back in the office, Ramon debriefed the cops on the sherrif's case and said that they may have to review some of the former witnesses. Quinn tells Ramon that he's being disrespectful. Vince steps forward with the forensics results and finds that the cases are not linked. Ramon doesn't believe his findings. Angel and Deb talk Vince up and back his findings 100%. He found that this last victim was smothered, not strangled. He concluded that science was a "cold hard bitch with a 14' strap-on." Vince is now back to being lewd and suggestive around the station - just the way we like him.

Ethan and Dexter have arrived in Bimini and Ethan's been collecting a bunch of cocktail napkins bearing the numbers of some lovely rich ladies. Harry makes an appearance tells Dex he has to make a choice. Harry says he's a lot like him, which Dexter disagres with. Harry tells Dex that he's cheating on Rita and she doesn't even know it. Dexter tells him that he's got room for his "Dark Passenger" and Rita. Harry tells him he has to pick one of them as a mistress and the other as a wife. Rita and Sil are still checking out houses Rita asks to use the bathroom. Dexter sneaks on to the sea taxi heading back to the cruise ship. Rita's bleeding, and Sil drives her to the hospital.

Deb tracked Wendell down to his houseand wanted to talk to him off the record. She gave him her card and someone watched the whole exchange. Wendell said Freebo owed some major cash. Dexter followed Ethan into his stateroom on the cruise ship. Since he didn't have much time, he set up an impromtu "clean room" in the cabin. Miguel met Sil at the hospital, Dexter is nowhere to be found. Dexter is sdisparching Ethan to the tune "Changes" - a song that reminded him to always take time for himself. The crime reminded him that he is "a paradox personiified" -  giving life and then taking it away. Dexter made quick work of the body and began tossing plastic-wrapped body parts out of the cabin's porthole.

Back at the hospital, Miguel said he had the Coast Guard looking for Dexter, because he wasn't fishing where he said he'd be. Deb sought out Anton and repeatedly knocked on his door until it was answered by a PYT. That's awkward. Deb then got a call from Miguel looking for Dexter and she quickly made her way to the hospital. Dexter finally got back to dock and says his life isn't over. Dex finally checks his phone and has 12 messages. The baby's fine. Rita puts the house hunting on hold until the baby's born but Dexter says he's ready. He was relieved to know the baby was still there. Deb was miffed that Dex wasn't there for Rita - instead opting to go fishing. They kissed and made up and he offered her his apartment. Miguel was with Dex as he tucked the kids in. Miguel told him that Ethan was found missing on the ship and asked where Dex was all day. Dex said he was at Mercy Reef, but Miguel (obviously) couldn't find him there. We all know that he suspects what's going on here. Dexter keeps denying he wasn't responsible.  Miguel says he and Dex were the same. Miguel gave him the chance to avenge the deaths of two innocent women. Miguel is "with him", he is "behind him" and he "respects him."Hmmm....
