Cloris Leachman's crazy ballroom antics are finally over. She and partner Corky Ballas were eliminated last night after a shoddy cha cha that left the judges fed up. But no matter how few dance steps she managed to pick up along the way this season, Cloris leaves behind a whole new fan base and a great message that age ain't nothin' but a number. 82 is the new 52!
Cloris exited with a touch more dignity than was expected (she threatened numerous times that she would never leave), saying she will, however, be back in the ballroom next week--in a pretty dress and sitting in the audience. She has six celeb comrades to cheer on as this season closes in on the finals.
Returning next week in the order they were revealed:
Lance Bass and Lacey were the first to receive the all clear. After their crowd-pleasing jive this week that knocked Brooke Burke out her long-running first place reign, L&L certainly deserve to hang around!
Joining L&L was Cody Linley. Happy with his safety, yet visibly bummed not to have partner Julianne Hough by his side, Cody was joined by his interim partner, Edyta. Julianne's surgery went off without a hitch Tuesday, and her superhero game plan is to return to the ballroom in two weeks time. I don't doubt Cody's ability to remain in the competition by his own accord, but I do think Julianne's medical drama solidifies his spot in the finals ... Everyone loves Julianne and wants to see her come back (including moi). A Hough vs. Hough finals wouldn't be too shabby either!
Warren Sapp and Kym were another natural save for the night, as were Brooke and Derek. Maurice Greene is always on shaky ground but managed to stick another week. He's not the worst dancer of the bunch but may lack the fan base of say, Susan Lucci, to hang around much longer. His lack of chemistry with partner Cherly isn't help his cause much, either.
And lastly, the hip hop challenged Susan will dance another week. Each of the standing six couples will tackle individual routines as well as a new team dance on Monday.
OK, so my predictions last week for the remainder of the season have already been proven wrong (Cloris exited before Susan). But, I still stand by Susan getting axed, and Brooke, Warren and Cody making up the final three.
