This episode Nathan starts playing for SlamBall and finds out it may not be as painless as he thought, Luke gets a movie offer for his first book from a well-connected producer but the guy may have a hidden agenda, and Sam kidnaps Jamie and takes him to a party making Brooke once again reconsider being Sam's foster parent. You won't want to miss this recap!
We start with Nathan at his first Slam Ball game. Pretty much everyone is there to watch Nathan break his back; Luke, Peyton, Brooke, Sam, Jamie, Haley, and Milli, plus Mouth is there covering it for the news and Gigi is there assisting. It doesn't take long before Nathan starts getting slammed to the floor, against the wall, and just about everywhere else. Haley and Brooke start yelling at Owen to protect Nathan. Sam officially meets everyone during the game and especially befriends Jamie. He sure does have a thing for befriending crazy people. Milli meets Gigi for the first time and makes it very clear to her that she's with Mouth by making out with him. Gigi takes the hint but obviously isn't too threatened. During the game Luke gets a call from his publisher. He tells Luke that someone wants to buy the film rights to Luke's first book.
The next morning Jamie wakes Nathan up asking if he can still walk. Nathan assures him that he's fine and jumps out of bed and starts dancing, well if you can call it that. Nathan goes to the kitchen to grab some breakfast, Haley is there reading a B.Davis magazine. Since when did they all start reading B.Davis magazine? Did they suddenly decide to subscribe now that Brooke is no longer running the company or what? Weird. Anyway, Haley expresses her concerns about SB (Slam Ball) and notices Nathan has a lot of bad bruises on his back. Seriously, it's only a matter of time before he screws his back up and is in a wheelchair again.
Luke and Peyton discuss the movie offer. Luke is sort of unsure about it but Peyton seems to think it's a good thing. He's mainly just concerned about whether he'll have any control over the movie. He doesn't want it to be some cheesy thing. Of course, Luke will want it to be some sophisticated, artsy film probably.
Brooke is almost finished with Peyton's wedding dress. Are they really still getting married? It seems like it's not even on their minds at this point. As Brooke is discussing the dress with Milli, Sam is skateboarding around the store (well, former store, now empty building). Haley drops by to see her new BFFs Milli and Brooke, Haley and Milli want to talk Owen with Brooke but she's not into it, Jamie then asks Brooke if he can spend the night at her house. He and Sam are buddies now. Haley and Brooke agree that he can.
The movie producer that wants to turn Luke's book into a movie shows up at Luke's door. His name is Julian Baker. He says he was just on his way to NYC and came through Tree Hill to see where the book was set. Luke feels a little ambushed but the guy seems cool, maybe a little too cool. Luke agrees to go have a drink with him later to discuss things.
Out of the blue Peyton goes and visits her military brother. WTF? She surprises him, they talk about Mick. Apparently her brother already knew of Mick but they had lost contact a long time ago. It probably would've been nice if he had told Peyton about him, you know? I guess Mick was supposed to perform at a USO concert but backed out and never talked to her brother again. Before Peyton leaves she tells him that she has connections in LA and would like to help him organize another USO show. Plus, Peyton can probably use the work considering she doesn't have much else going on. Did Mia drop off the face of the Earth or what? They could at least give us some update on what she's doing.
Luke goes to see Nathan and ask for his opinion on the movie. Nathan is making pancakes, which Luke gets in on, and then Nathan gives him a list of actors he wants to play him in the movie. #1 on the list? Shia LeBeouf, of course. Who wouldn't want Shia to play them in a movie though? The convo turns to SB and Luke tells Nathan he should try to make Haley feel more comfortable about it because she's really worried, as if Nathan didn't already know that.
Next on Luke's list to get a blessing from for the movie is Brooke. She is really excited for Luke. If she's jealous at all of Luke's recent success, and her failures, she doesn't seem to be showing it. Maybe all that therapy helped afterall?
Haley and Jamie pay a quick visit to Quentin's grave, I guess just to remind us of Quentin and try to get some tears.
Mouth does an interview with Nathan for a sports story he's doing on Nathan and SB. While Mouth is interviewing Nathan, Gigi calls Mouth "sexy." Mouth sort of looks at Nathan stunned. Nathan tells him that he's learned you should never flirt with another girl that isn't your wife or girlfriend, ever. Mouth gets the memo but who knows if it'll sink in. Maybe Mouth has feelings for Gigi? I hope not. Milli is much better than Gigi's horny ass.
Night sets in across Tree Hill, Nathan and Owen show up at Brooke's door. Owen tries to get Nathan to get Brooke to like him again, Brooke laughs and tells Nathan to tell Owen to quit acting like a 7th grader. She eventually lets Owen in and she sends Sam and Jamie off to Sam's bedroom while they talk, he admits that he's an idiot and made a mistake. Just as they're getting to the juicy stuff there's a knock at the door. It's Milli and she has bad news, a store owner called her and said someone just broke into Brooke's store empty building. Brooke says she's going to tell Sam to watch Jamie for a little while and then going to get her gun. Milli and Owen are a little surprised that she has a gun. Brooke is A LOT surprised when she finds Sam and Jamie missing and the window open. Brooke, Owen, and Milli run to the store to see what's going on and just as they get there some guy comes skateboarding out. Brooke figures out what's going on and they run into the store. They find the place trashed, wall spraypainted, Jamie dancing around with glow sticks along with dozens of other people, and Sam is watching enjoying the party. Brooke grabs Jamie, passes him to Owen and then goes and screams at Sam. As she's yelling at Sam she spots Peyton's wedding dress is on some girl and it's trashed, it has been spraypainted and ripped. Owen throws everyone out and then they clean up the disaster. Jamie apologizes to Brooke, she tells him that he should have came and told her he was going to leave, he shouldn't listen to bad people. Jamie defends Sam saying she's like Quentin, she's a good person she's just scared to show it.
Brooke, Jamie and Sam go back home. Sam tries cleaning Peyton's wedding dress but Brooke tells her that soap and water isn't going to get spraypaint off. Sam says she's really sorry and goes to leave thinking Brooke doesn't want her anymore. Brooke grabs her and tells her that she's not going anywhere, she's grounded. Sam is surprised, apparently she's never been grounded before, her past foster parents always just kick her out.
Haley goes to Luke's and they talk about the movie and SlamBall. He tells Haley everything will be fine. She heads home to spend time with Nathan and relax. At home she ends up giving Nathan a massage and he reassures her that he'll be fine but she needs to trust him and not make worried faces while she watches on the sidelines.
Luke meets Julian at Tric for a drink. Luke expresses his concern about not having control, Julian says he'd like to have Luke be the screenwriter, which will give him control plus he tells Luke that it'll earn him over $300,000 probably. Later, the guys play a game of pool and Luke ends up winning. The "prize" is supposedly that Luke will also get a Producer credit. Anyone else thinking this sounds fishy? After the guy loses he whips out a contract and tells Luke he should sign it before he changes his mind. Apparently Luke told him before that he should sign on to this so Luke signs it without even reading. I thought Luke was smart? I guess after a few beers all logic goes out the window.
Gigi leaves the office for the day but soon after she leaves she sends Mouth a txt message that says, "sexy." Mouth is stupid and doesn't delete it which I'm sure Milli will end up finding next week and this will cause major drama.
Julian says that he'll he'd like to meet the infamous Peyton so Luke calls Peyton. She says she'll get down there soon. Right before Peyton shows up, Julian gets a call. Peyton ends up running into Julian and it turns out these two know each other, like they used to date when she was in LA probably. Julian doesn't seem to be surprised that it's her so I'm guessing that his "deal" with Luke is just a sham. Who knows what this guy is really upto. Before Peyton can talk to him Luke spots the two and thinks they must have just met. They don't tell him any different. This is definitely going to be DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA!
Next episode, Owen turns up naked in Brooke's car (just like old times), Luke asks Peyton what she thinks of Julian -- will she tell him the truth?, Gigi tries to get Mouth to sleep with her, and Luke and Dan are fighting about something or another, again.
