We start with Addison getting back from her late night beach jog. She gives Pete a call to whine that she needs her friend, Naomi, back. She says she's been thinking that they need to stage an intervention to get Sam and Naomi to work things out so they can have peace in the office again. In the midst of the convo Violet and Coop end up getting conferenced in on the call so for a short time it's four of them yapping at the same time. The episode is just getting started and I already have a headache. This would've been a perfect time for a Tylenol commercial.
The next morning, Dell is back and it's like he never left. In fact, some of the docs don't even really notice he's back or ever left. Everyone, including Dell, stage a surprise intervention on Sam and Naomi. They lock them in the conference room and tell them not to come out until they can come to an agreement. Neither Sam or Naomi are happy about it but they start chatting nonetheless.
Coop's patient for the episode is a young boy who has suddenly stopped talking and interacting. His mom seems to have done quite a bit of research and been to many doctors but no one has been able to help. She fears he may be autistic. Coop tells her that it's still a pretty mysterious thing and who knows if they'll ever be able to figure out exactly what's wrong with him but he promises he'll keep trying. As he's looking at the boy, the boy drops his toy fire truck and for a brief moment he and Coop make eye contact. This encourages Coop to really dig deep into what it could be and not just focus on autism.
Sam and Naomi finally come to an agreement, but it's not one that everyone is happy about. They've decided that everyone should vote on who they would rather run the office and over the next couple days they'll be campaigning. Who do they think they are Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama? As if we're not already starting to get election fatigue. Addison hates the idea and says it's going to divide everyone but Sam and Naomi insist this is the only way to resolve their conflict. No matter what the outcome is they will be supportive.
Before Coop's patient's mom leaves she remembers seeing Coop on an adult dating site. She calls him a pervert and says he shouldn't be a doctor. Seriously? Since when did dating mean you were a pervert? Coop is just as stunned as we are. He later goes to Charlotte to tell her of the ordeal and get her opinion. She thinks the lady is crazy too, well until Coop admits he never took down his dating profiles and he's on like "10-ish" websites. She says he might be a pervert afterall.
Addison's patient is a late teen/early twenty-something Muslim girl who is there with her mother and father. The girl says she was attacked but didn't report it to the police, now she wants to be made into a virgin again through surgery. Addison is quick to point out that nothing can actually make her a vrigin again, that's over and done with. It turns out that her parents have pre-arranged a marriage for her with a man in Afghanistan and if she is not a virgin then it will be a disgrace for her family and he will not take care of them. She says she just wants "to be pure again." Like that's possible through surgery. Later, Addison talks to the other docs about what the girl wants. Pretty much everyone is against it, except Dell who argues that if it's what the girl wants then who is the doctor to judge. As they're discussing it a mystery woman comes in and throws in her two cents, which is that the girl has no idea what she's in for in Afghanistan. The woman is named, Meg, and she turns out to be a close friend of Pete's, real close in fact. As soon as he greets her they start making out. WTF? We're not the only ones confused, the docs have no clue who she is either.
Addison gets lab results back for her patient and it shows there being new sperm. Addison talks to the girl privately and she confesses that she made the whole thing up, she actually has a boyfriend but she couldn't tell her parents because he's not Muslim and her parents want to go back to the middle east so she can marry the Afghan man who will take care of them. She just wants to make her parents happy.
Pete and Meg talk in his office. She tells him that she can tell just by looking into his eyes that he's not totally happy with his life. She brings up his past, a lot of info we didn't know, and then says the old Peter (yep, Peter not Pete) would have already cleared the desk and had sex with her. Not one to pass up a good opportunity he throws everything off the desk and they have sex. Unfortunately, we don't get any good sex scenes here. They really need to take some cues from other shows, like Gossip Girl. After the sex he notices that she has a bite mark or something on her back. She blows it off saying it's just an insect bite but clearly she must be a little concerned because soonafter she goes to the bathroom to see for herself. Addison and Violet follow her to the bathroom. They all talk and Meg tells them a lot about Pete's history that they didn't know, such as that he used to be in Doctors without Borders and worked in many third world countries. This surprises Addison and I think it even turns her on a little.
Addison and Violet talk and Addison tells her about the patient lying about being raped. This infuriates Violet, to an extent that surprised even Addison. Violet says that this is why a lot of girls aren't believed when they say they've been raped and on and on. Addison is sort of shocked by how outraged Violet is and it makes you wonder what's the back story on that, but I guess we won't find out this episode. Anyway, Violet tells her that she should absolutely not do the surgery. A short time later Kevin surprises Addison at work and springs the idea on her that they go on vacation together to Cabo. Addison more or less declines saying that she has rules and in the past when she hasn't followed them they haven't turned out to well. Obviously we know her back story with Derek and Sloane (from her Grey's Anatomy history) and we know how that all turned out. She tells Kevin that she has these "sex rules" now and that she needs to wait until it feels right, he says that's fine with him. I mean, it's not really "fine" with him but he respects it.
That night Coop goes to his patient's house. At first the mom slams the door in his face but then Coop knocks again and again and finally gets the mom to talk. He tells her that he thinks the boy may have something else that can be treated and he's done quite a bit of research. He gives her a folder with tons of research papers, she takes them and then shuts the door on him again. He yells to her through the door that she was on the dating site too so it's like calling the kettle black pervert.
Dell is heading home for the night but before he leaves Sam and Naomi corner him and fight for his vote. It's awkward for Dell and he chooses to forego the elevator and run for the stairs to get away from the two. After he leaves Sam and Naomi continue bickering. Surprise, surprise.
The next day, Naomi and Violet talk to Pete about what they found out about his history. He doesn't really want to share any more with them than they already know. What's up with him always trying to be secretive?
Addison meets with the girl-who-cried-rape and tells her that she really needs to think about the decisions she's making and how they're going to impact the rest of her life. She says she needs to tell her mom the truth before she'll consider anything. A while later the girl talks to her mom and then Addison goes to talk to the mom. Come to find out that the mom already pretty much knew, she just pretended like she didn't because she wanted her daughter to feel the guilt. What a bitch. The daughter comes back in the room and asks if Addison will do the surgery now. Addison is still a bit hesitant but it looks like she's leaning toward it.
The bite that Meg thought was just an insect bite turns out to be a tick that had embedded itself in her back. He figures it had probably been there for about a week. Meg jokes that she'd rather just pay off Sam to never tell Pete than have to admit that she was wrong. I kind of like her but then again I'm not sure she's really someone I would expect Pete to be with.
The docs meet in the conference room to dicuss the vote. Addison again stresses that she thinks it is a horrible idea, it will create scars that may never heal and it will tear the practice apart. She says they all need to sit down together and figure out what is best for the practice. Sam insists that they still do the vote and everyone leaves. I'm with Addison, if they go through with the vote it will only cause more drama.
Addison ends up doing the surgery on the girl-who-cried-rape. She's very reluctant about it but this is what the girl wants and at least she came clean with her mom.
Coop's patient and mom show up and she wants to go ahead with the testing. They start immediately. By late afternoon the boy is talking again! She's excited and emotional and tells Coop that he's a wonderful doctor.
It's time for the docs to vote. Addison can't believe they are actually going to go through with it and decides not to vote at all. Everyone else does vote and it ends up being 1 Sam, 1 Naomi and the rest for Addison! It's decided.. she'll be the one heading up the office now. Sam and Naomi don't say much they just leave the room. Addison is shocked, she never asked for the role but now it's been bestowed on her. I think she'll be great at it, though I'm sure there will be plenty of drama. Will this help mend her and Naomi's relationship or just tear it apart more? I'm guessing tear it apart more. Anyway, it comes down to just Addison and Violet in the room and Addison asks her if she wants to talk about the rape thing that Violet got so upset about earlier. Violet says, "it is what it is" and leaves. Huh? It is what it is.. but what is it? Damn therapists always saying confusing things.
Sam and Naomi go to a room to themselves. Sam apologizes to her for everything, she grabs his hand and then they kiss, Pete and Addison stand across the office watching.
At home, Pete and Meg sleep together again, this time in a bed though. Again, we get cheated out of the sex scenes and only see them laying half naked under the blankets. Meg is quite the traveler and earlier Pete mentioned that she just comes and goes. I think Pete really likes her but he knows not to get too emotionally attached because then she just goes away on some safari. She has another safari planned soon so it looks like she won't be sticking around again, or will he change her mind?
Charlotte surprises Coop with a dominatrix outfit, whip included. Coop is only slightly excited, he's more interested in talking which bores Charlotte at first but then she gives in. Coop tells a little about himself, he's from Akron, Ohio he worked at a camp in Indiana (my home state.. woohoo!) which is where he realized he liked working with kids. Charlotte then starts to tell a little about herself but they fade away before we find out much, not that we really cared anyway, did we?
The final scene is Kevin coming to Addison's house and within seconds of him being there they start stripping each other's clothes off and getting it on right there on the floor. At first it looked like it was going to be a hot scene, good enough to compete with past ones between Sam and Naomi but then it sort of fizzled out when they panned way out. Leave it to me to always be on the look out for a good sex scene. I'm guessing now that these two have gotten the first time out of the way we'll be seeing a lot more sex in the future.
