And the winner is...
(your not getting off that easily!)
To be honest, after last week's episode, nothing was much of a surprise this week. Each designer pretty much stayed within the limits of boring design. Although there were a few cool features in Nathan's townhouse, Preston and Ondine were a little less shocking and a lot more predictable.
Preston seems to be living in his own, sad little world. He actually thinks Eddie is a big help. Little does he know Eddie thinks his house is the worse of the three. Probably not good to have a partner who doesn't like you or believe in you. Meanwhile, Nathan and Natalie are getting along famously, as are Ondine and Andrea (who regrets leaving the show...). Sucks to be her.
Anyway, with only a few hours left of the final challenge, Ondine's house is just about empty. According to her, this is not her fault. She had a terrible carpenter, so she says. You try building a whole princess bed in two days Ondine, tell me how good you would be at it. Probably not too good. While Ondine is busy not taking responsibility for her actions, Preston is busy doing what Preston does: make things pretty. And yes, his town home was beautiful. Just really boring. If you like grey, black, and a little brown, you would love this home. However, if you would like some light to your home, and not live in a mortuary, look to Nathan.
Without doing much to his ripped apart bedroom, the rest of Nathan's house was innovative and interesting. Instead of using the family room, for, well, families, he turned the front room into a beautiful museum-esq foyer like area. From there, you could see the awesome paper plate (yes, paper plate) kitchen light. It looked like it was expensive, when it was only made out of paper plates and chicken wire. Behind the kitchen table and thoughtful light fixture was a Nathan origianl painting. I would pay a lot of money for a picture like that, it fit in perfectly. It isn't really hard to see who the stand out competitor is.
Jonathan doesn't seem to be impressed by any of the designers, especially Nathan, who chose not to change the things the judges told him to last week. The judges liked Ondine's, but only specific rooms. Like the "dining room" she turned into a sitting room with bright pink couches and a zebra rug. They also liked how Preston's house was well put together, as always. But they also weren't shocked by anyother designer but Nathan. His paper plate light was enough to win him Top Design. Who would have thought something that cost a total of about $7.00 to make would win someone $100,000 and spread in Elle Decor magazine? Congratulations Nathan! Keep it intersting.
