How I Met Your Mother: Not A Father's Day: Episode 407

Barney keeps drinking but still doesn't think any of the girls in the bar are hot.  Ted being the wing man suggests a group of girls in the corner. Even Lily and Robin think they are attractive. 

Barney explains that they are what you would call the Cheerleading Effect.  It's when a group of women appear to be hot only together as a group.  The crew take a look at the girls again and see eyebrows that need to be plucked, bad teeth and zits. 

OK can I just ask; what is up with Marshall's hair? He looks like such a horrible slob lately in all the episodes.

Barney gets a call on his cell.  Come to find out he might be a father. A girl he hooked up with a few weeks back is going to the doctor today to find out.  Barney freaks out.  He doesn't understand why anyone would want to have kids.

On the other hand, now that Marshall and Lily are thirty they've been noticing babies everywhere they go.  You might say they are coming down with "baby fever."  Marshall and Lily start discussing if they should be having a baby right now.  They jump each others bones but are broken up with Robin coming out to watch TV.

See Robin gave up for job in Japan so now she's unemployed and miserable.....She's been crashing on Lily and Marshall's couch. Oh and when did Lily and Marshall move??? I thought they decided to stay living with Ted.

Marshall and Lily decide that Robin will stay at Ted's tomorrow night so they can plan a romantic dinner; aka baby making time.

Barney goes to church to pray.  He proclaims to God that if he gets out of this Barney will never ever ever.....Well Barney never gets to finish that sentence because his cell phone rings.  Barney finds out he isn't going to be a father and runs out of the church dancing like he's Gene Kelly. 

In fact, Barney's so happy about not being a father that he decides to create a holiday.  The happy not a father's day.

Marshall's boss who just happens to be Dan Lauria, aka Kevin Arnold's dad in the "Wonder Years" comes into his office to remind Marshall about their conference call with China tonight. 

Marshall calls Lily to deliver the bad news that he won't be making it home for dinner. 

Lily freaked out decides to invite Robin and Ted over to help her decide if she should be having a baby.  Lily explains that she's concerned that Marshall only sees the cute part about having a baby.  We flash to Lily's neighbor, who has a kid telling her all about her sleepless nights and lack of sex while Marshall sits on the couch playing with the baby and his cute little sock.

Lily starts to drink.  Ted thinks that Marshall would make a great dad.  Robin on the other hand thinks Lily is being smart questioning having a child.

Robin believes Ted is too pro kids because he's practically a dad already.  Fact, Ted tells corny dad jokes and lecture's the crew all the time. 

Barney cons some of his fellow employees to celebrate the not a father's day holiday. 

Lily continues to drink.  Ted thinks that Robin is anti babies because she is afraid of them.  We flash to Robin not wanting to hold a baby and then actually giving it her finger to sniff.  She didn't want it to bite her....

To Robin's defense she thinks Lily needs to focus on herself before having a baby.  Lily sees the little baby sock her neighbor left and decides she is going to have a baby.

After drinking a bottle of wine Lily manages to sneak away from Robin and Ted and head down to Marshall's work.  Lying on his desk she tells Marshall that he needs to put a baby in her. 

Ted and Robin head out to find Lily.  Robin can't believe why anyone would have to have kids they always have their stupid bottle. We see Lily drinking her bottle of wine.  Then kids cry. We see Lily crying to Marshall when she isn't getting her way.  Kids spit up. Lily throws up because she is too drunk. 

Marshall starts his conference call but is having a hard time concentracting because Lily keeps running up and down the hallway.  Marshall runs out to find her. 

At the bar, while Robin was in the bathroom Ted answered Robin's phone and found the baby sock in her purse. Robin admits she took the sock because she thought it was cute.  Ted suggests that Robin stay in his spare room.  And that is how Robin and Ted came to live together.

Lily decides that she wants to go out dancing but passes out in the taxi on the way home. 

Barney keeps bragging to Robin and Ted about his new holiday. Ted finally blurts out that the guys celebrating Barney's holiday have the Cheerleader Effect.  Robin chimes in with the fact that they aren't childless by choice. Barney slowly realizes how ugly they are.

The next day, Lily cooks breakfast for Marshall. She feels horrible about what a mess she was last night and apologizes.  However, she realizes how well Marshall took care of her and that he is going to be a great father. Marshall blurts out that he doesn't want to be a dad right now. With his new job and the long hours he wants to be ready when they decide to have a kid.  The two decide to go have protected sex.

So I'm confused.....Lily already looks pregnant. I mean she is in real life. Anyone notice how her boobs and face are a little bigger?  This storyline would have worked out so well!!!!
