Rosie LiveTV Guide 's influential television critic Matt Roush savaged Rosie O'Donnell's attempt to bring back the variety show format with Rosie Live on Thanksgiving Eve in his latest Roush Dispatch. Roush summed it up by saying "if the TV variety format weren't already dead, the ghastly ego trip of NBC's Thanksgiving-eve turkey Rosie Live would surely have killed it. Like the pie Alec Baldwin predictably pushed into Conan O'Brien's face that fell to the floor without sticking, the entire hour landed with a sickening, sad, ill-conceived thud." Ouch.
TV Guide reports that X-Files producer and writer Frank Spotnitz is creating a drama for NBC that will star actress Gabrielle Union. Union will play a police detective who must race to save a friend's life before it's too late. Spotnitz and Union briefly worked together on ABC's short-lived Night Stalker in 2005.
E! reports that CBS' CSI: NY was the most watched series on Thanksgiving Eve, with 12.2 million viewers. Barbara Walters' interview with Barack Obama came in second with 10 million viewers. The critically thrashed (see above) Rosie Live drew 5 million to NBC.

I saw the opening scene of this and rapidly changed the channel. Rosie was making jokes about the Spanx she was wearing and it was falling flatter than Madonna's acting. I'm just glad she wasn't wearing that white stole she had on in the commercials. I lived in fear that she was going to whip that thing open.
