Mr. Burns is all about fun these days, a word he has only seen written until Mark Cuban comes into his life. Burns can't understand how money can actually buy happiness, until he wins a basketball team in a game of poker.
Flying in his jet to the Billionaires retreat, Burns' favorite week of the year, he is filled with excitement to talk business with his fellow rich men. By discussing business, I mean they are skinny dipping in the lake with the founder of Facebook. Showing all the ways thier lives are better then ours, the billionaires act like money means nothing, especially because to them, it doesn't.
Meanwhile, on the playground, Bart gets dared by Jimbo to strike down the bee's nest hanging over the second graders (including Lisa). Bart, never one to turn down a dare, takes out his slingshot and knocks down the nest. Lisa screams at the other kids to save themselves as she jumps onto the hive to stop the bees. When she doesn't feel herself getting stung, Lisa opens the hive and realizes all the bees are dead. Saddened by this, Groundskeeper Willy shows Lisa just how bad things really are. All over the world bees are dying at a rapid pace. No bees, no honey, no flowers. Lisa is determined to fix this problem.
Back at the retreat, the billionaires are telling ghost stories about the SEC while Mr. Burns is winning the Austin Celtics from another billionaire in a game of poker. Good thing too. Smithers was wagered, who knows what would have happened if Burns lost him. Elsewhere, Lisa runs home to her dad to tell him the devastating news. It was the no honey thing that got him. The two call the professor for help saving the bees.
Luckily for them, Lisa has a Queen Bee on her cheek. This just means Lisa is going to have to repopulate the bees using her face. After a few days of walking around everywhere with a beard of bees, Marge has had it. Saving the day, and her daughters face, Marge finds an abandoned green house Lisa can send the bees to. It didn't take long for the bees to find a new home. At least, a temporary home. Burns would prove to be a scrooge yet again.
After seeing Mark Cuban at the Springfield Celtics game, Burns wants to have fun. He sings the "National Anthem" at the first game, "My country tis' of thee, sweet land of liberty..." I know that isn't the Start Spangled Banner, unfortunately, Burns doesn't. Anyway, Burns decides to build a new stadium that, obviously, will tear down the new bee sanctuary Lisa has built. She tries and tries but just can't get anyone else to care about the bees the way she does.
Lisa, depressed, is downing milks at Moe's with her dad when she decides she wants to be alone. That's when Moe and Homer get the genius idea of breeding African Bees (Moe randomly had them stashed away) and the bees Lisa is trying to save. The idea is that they will be strong enough to weather any climate. An idea coming from Moe and Homer can't ever be a good thing. This time is no exception. After they "cross bred" or, made the bees have sex, a new, hybrid bee has been formed.
So proud of the work he did for his daughter, Homer just has to show Lisa what he did. He even climbs a very large hill to do so. Impressing Lisa on the walk up alone, she can't wait to see what he has in store for her. When she sees all the hives Homer has built, she is so excited. That is, until she hears the sound of angry bees. Homer, in an attempt to "ask" the bees if they are angry, lifts the top of the hive and all the bees scurry out. Where do the head? Straight to Burns' brand new arena, on its grand opening night. Karma is a bitch. Anyway, the killer bee attack cost Mr. Burns $4 million. Back at the Billionaire retreat, that drops him to below billionaire status. They throw him over the fence into the millionaires retreat. Not exactly the place Mr. Burns wants to bee. Haha, I thought that would be some sort of Karmic retribution.
