TV News Update: Michael Cera Holding Up 'Arrested Development' Movie

Michael CeraMichael CeraMichael Cera is the only cast member from the dearly departed cult hit Arrested Development that has not signed on for the big screen feature. TV Guide spoke with Jason Bateman, who played Cera's father on the show. "I think Michael is clearly the guy that has come out of Arrested Development with a very big plate, so I think he's trying to really give some responsible thought to what makes sense for him to do with his career," he said. "The guy is 20 years old and I'm sure he doesn't want to screw up this opportunity."

Mariska Hargitay is still not able to work on Law & Order SVU due to recently suffering a pneumothorax, which is a collapsed lung. "We don't know when she'll be back to production," says someone involved in production to People . "We're just going to wait and see." The source added that if Hargitay returns in the next few weeks, "she won't miss any episodes. They'll work around her."

CBS's NCIS is receiving its own spin-off. TV.com reports that the show, which has recently been edging 20 million viewers in the ratings for December, will debut its new show as a regular episode of NCIS. It wiill use that epsidoe to introduce the new cast. No word yet on whether a regular NCIS cast member will be joining the spin-off. 

Showtime has announced that the announced The L Word spin-off will center around Leisha Hailey's Alice character being sent to prison. No one's confirming, but TV Guide reports that the spin-off will be called The Farm and function as a "female OZ" but "but not as dark."
