Drive: Finale: Rear View

I’m not running away. I’m driving. I’m driving towards something, something better.

We begin with a very annoying, and long voiceover by Corinna about how much of a mistake it was to take the jump start. Just say “I told you so” and get it over with! Now Serenity and the Pimpala are in a race to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, and both fear they’ll be last. What they’re forgetting is that they got a note telling them where to go in big block letters, the rest of the competitors just got candy balls. Somehow, that just sounds dirty.

Drive: Episode 105: The Extra Mile

I’m a survivor, still am. You know, when no one gives you a break, you take one. And when luck doesn’t come your way, you make your own.

Oh Nathan Fillion, when will you ever learn that Fox is not your friend? Also, in the future, as awesome as many of his shows have been, avoid all things Tim Minear. Why? With Wonderfalls, Firefly and Drive as his track record, an actor can’t count on the steady work.

Drive Episode 104: No Turning Back

A man races to save the woman he loves and finds some help along the way... A newlywed hides the truth from her husband... Two long-lost brothers are reunited on the road... drives to protect her baby... And a woman betrays her friends --

And one recapper wonders what's up with the horrible voice-over dude?

Drive: Episode 103: Let the Games Begin

“Some of us are being forced to drive... Some of us are trying to put together our past... Some of us are trying to escape our past... It's my one chance to keep my husband alive... It's my chance to really live... It's my chance to protect my baby... And we'll do anything, betray anyone, to win."

Serenity has broken down on the roadside, allowing us to get some banter between the most entertaining team on the race, Tully and Corinna. It's about getting there fast, and the world's most obvious clue, the address on the ticket. In sheer frustration, Tully orders her back inside the car and she mistakenly believes it's to try and start it again. In reality, it's to prevent him from whacking her over the head with a wrench. Although, considering he took out Alan with a wrench in "The Starting Point," and she took out Alex with a laptop and Alan with a computer in "Partners," by my calculations, he has to knock out three people in this episode, just to keep ahead.

Drive: Episode 102: Partners

The Race (27 Years Ago): Personally, I want to see The First Race ever but I’ll have to be satisfied with 27 years ago. At what we’re to assume is the finish line is a little girl with blonde curly hair. In the approaching car are her parents, relieved to see their daughter healthy and whole but because of thier focus, they miss the competition, which sideswipes them in a vehicle I didn’t think was even around 27 years ago. In one of the most spectacular car crashes I have ever seen on television, the parents are run off the road. Their car flips over several times, tossing them about like rag dolls. The mother is sucked through the back of the station wagon, and the father, with his neck at a very uncomfortable angle, remains in the driver’s seat.

Drive Episode 101: The Starting Point

“There are 500 million cars worldwide, over half in the US alone and for as long as there have been cars, there has been The Race.”

And with those words, Nathan Fillion returns to my regular television viewing schedule. Shiny! Of course, if you need another reason to give this show a chance, I list 12 over on my blog. Although, with a nod to my co-worker Annie, it’s really 12 and a half, if one includes Kevin Alejandro.

The voiceover proceeds to tell me that The Race could be anywhere, including that road-rage sufferer that cut you off on the way to work, or the bastard who sideswiped my car back in January and didn’t stick around to trade insurance. I expect an apology in person, Nathan Fillion!
