K-Villege Kitty Kops?: Cobb and Boulet take a suspicious-looking kitten into "kustody"."Laissez les bon temps rouler." I find it difficult to believe that a reporter from the fictional New York Herald, sent to write a story about the NOPD, would have taken the time to research NOPD police codes but not learn the Cajun expression for "Let the good times roll." But reporter Jodi Mazzetta has no time for good times. She's got three days to write her story, and she's struck gold in her first ridealong with Cobb and Boulet -- homicide victim Travis Frederick.

K-Ville: Boulet in a China Shop (Episode 9)
December 12, 2007This week's crime (or main crime, I should say, as there appears to be some arson later on) is a double homicide at the Mardis Gras World warehouse belonging to a Mr. Perl, one of the victims. The other dead man is Barnet -- apparently Perl's killer, though Cobb thinks the placement of the bodies and of the guns is suspect. Were they dead by each other's hand, or does the anonymous 911 caller who brought the SWAT team down to the warehouse in the first place have another shooter? A suspect, Owen Giles, is found hiding in one of the floats -- he's a NO native who hasn't been seen since the storm. Boulet recognizes him, though, as man he rescued from a rooftop after Katrina.

K-Ville: Flood, Wind, and Fire (Episode 8)
December 5, 2007
Flood, Wind, and Fire: Boulet and Cobb get some help from Fire Marshall McGillis -- with sexy results! The first real snow of the season hit Chicago (read: where this recapper lives) this weekend. Which means that not only is Chicago all pretty and wintry for, like, a hot second before the gray slush moves in until April, but cable reception in my neighborhood was, to say the least spotty. It's still snowing, but at least my reception recovered. Too bad it didn't do it in time for me to get a clear DVR copy of this week's episode of K-Ville, "Flood, Wind, and Fire". Now, I know I could just watch the full episode on the FOX web site but in support of the striking WGA writers (whose ranks I hope to join one day), I won't watch it. So if my recap seems a bit light on actual plot development (and heavy on Cole Hauser's hotness), blame my integrity.

K-Ville: Melissa (Episode 7)
November 21, 2007
Cobb and Boulet break the bad news to Mrs. Schmidt.Boulet and Cobb have found the body of Dr. Steven Schmidt, but not the briefcase he was seen carrying when he left his office. It's not a simple robbery, though, as the victim's car is still parked nearby, and his wallet is still on him. When a lens from a pair of glasses not belonging to the body appear, and possibly belonging to the killer, Cobb insists Boulet stick around to investigate further. Though Boulet has to get Tawni from school, he and Cobb drive around, finding the briefcase in the possession of some boys. They confirm that they found it near Schmidt's body, though insist the "guy was like that when they found him". And it gets better: the briefcase is full of cash.

K-Ville: AKA (Episode 6)
November 14, 2007
Is Cobb up to no good... again?Okay, damn.
The cold open was all of, what, 90 seconds, and already the body count for this episode is up to 2. How? you ask. Boulet and Cobb are heading to Calliope Street, near the Langston Metal Works where they are too late to prevent what looks like a carjacking. Except they don't want the guy's car -- they shoot him just as Boulet and Cobb, and then Love Tap and Glue Boy, roll up. Splitting up, Cobb and Glue Boy go after one of the perps. Cobb even collars him until the perp recognizes him, calling him Laurette. This moment is all the perp needs to get away, and even slam a pipe into Glue Boy's head just before Cobb catches up with him to shoot him dead. At the hospital, a frantic Love Tap and a confused Boulet want to know how the perp got away when Cobb had previously radioed to say that he'd caught him. Arriving just as Glue Boy is wheeled into surgery, Embry invites them all for some coffee and a walkthrough of what happened. Cobb pulls Boulet aside, saying that the perp's name was Karl Dixon, and he was in a gang that Cobb used to run with.

K-Ville: Cobb's Webb (Episode Number 2)
September 25, 2007As the show opens, Hotty Cop Cobb is in orange jail garb, running from police with flashlights and dogs. He looks terrified and then self-satisfied when he finds a big rock to hide behind. Smart. They'll never find him behind a big rock, especially with those dogs trailing him.
It's unclear if this chase is a flashback to his own breakout two years before during the aftermath of Katrina or if, as his partner Boulet suggested in last week's episode, he might still have a little bit of criminal inside.

K-Ville: Pilot (Episode 1)
September 20, 2007K-Ville opens with the as yet unknown Trevor Cobb, struggling to stay above water for even a matter of seconds before the screen cuts to black and then the brief text, "New Orleans, September 1, 2005." And the scene is set, quickly before a water-ravaged New Orleans is shown--homes underwater, only rooftops show, tops of interstate signs peek out, police and military men rescuing people from their roofs to the safety of interstate bridges, people beg for water once on the safety of bridges. The water has stopped falling and there is no sign of the astrodome horror, but New Orleans is still clearly in the throes of Katrina and it is hard to summon snarky comments on this sad and ugly recreation of this still too fresh disaster.
